Abstract

Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh banyaknya guru bimbingan dan konseling/konselor yang kurang memahami konseling lintas budaya. Secara teori guru bimbingan dan konseling menyadari bahwa agar layanan konseling efektif dan tepat guna, maka layanan yang diberikan harus sesuai dengan budaya konseli. Tapi kenyataan dilapangan guru bimbingan dan konseling/konselor menganggap bahwa konseli harus mengikuti budaya yang dibawa oleh guru bimbingan dan konseling/konselor, dengan alasan agar layanan konseling lebih cepat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan program pelatihan untuk mengembangkan keterampilan konseling lintas budaya bagi guru bimbingan dan konseling. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif-kualitatif, metode pra eksperimen dengan pretest-posttest one group design. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket keterampilan konseling lintas budaya dengan teknik analisis statistika inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan program pelatihan keterampilan konseling lintas budaya efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan konseling lintas budaya guru bimbingan dan konseling/konselor SMP terutama pada aspek kesadaran mengenai budaya konseli dan aspek kemampuan meningkatkan strategi konseling yang sesuai dengan budaya konseling. ---------- The research is motivated by a number of guidance and counseling teachers/counselors who lack of understanding of cross-cultural counseling. In theory the guidance and counseling teachers realize that in order for effective counseling services and appropriate, the services provided must correspond to the person's culture. But the reality in the field of guidance and counseling teachers/counselors assume that they must follow the culture brought them, arguing that the counseling services so can be faster. The purpose of this research is to produce a training program to develop cross-cultural counseling skills for teachers’ guidance and counseling. The research approach used is quantitative-qualitative, pre-experimental method with one group pretest-posttest design. Collecting data uses questionnaires cross-cultural counseling skills with inferential statistical analysis techniques. The results show training programs cross cultural counseling skills effectively to improve the skills of cross-cultural counseling guidance and counseling teachers/counselors of SMP mainly on aspects of the person's awareness of the culture and viability improving counseling strategies appropriate to the person's culture.
