Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul “Pelaksanaan Pengembangan Vokasional Pada Anak Tunagrahita Ringan di SLB-C Yayasan Karya Bhakti Kabupaten Garut”. Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh adanya permasalahan yang muncul pada peserta didik tunagrahita dewasa. Ketika mereka sudah kembali ke lingkungan masyarakat, mereka masih bergantung kepada orang lain dan belum mandiri secara finansial. Kondisi ini berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan mereka dalam memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya. Salah satu upaya untuk membangun kemandirian peserta didik tunagrahita dengan adanya pembelajaran vokasional. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan pelaksanaan pengembangan vokasional pada anak tunagrahita ringan di SLB-C Yayasan Karya Bhakti Kabupaten Garut. Metode deskriptif dan pendekatan kualitatif digunakan untuk mengungkap pelaksanaan pengembangan vokasional di SLB-C Yayasan Karya Bhakti Kabupaten Garut. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh dalam pelaksanaan pengembangan vokasional pada anak tunagrahita ringan di SLB-C Yayasan Karya Bhakti Kabupaten Garut yaitu pembelajaran vokasional dapat dikembangkan melalui vokasional kerumahtanggaan, vokasional tata boga dan vokasional pertanian. Beberapa kendala yang dialami ketika melaksanakan pembelajaraan yaitu pengorganisasian guru, ketersediaan sarana dan prasarana yang belum optimal, serta kendala dalam pemasaran. Upaya yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi kendala-kendala tersebut yakni dengan cara memaksimalkan potensi guru–guru yang ada, memodifikasi sarana yang tersedia agar dapat digunakan untuk aktivitas pembelajaran vokasional serta mempromosikan hasil karya peserta didik melalui kegiatan-kegiatan besar yang diselenggarakan di kota Garut. ---------- This study entitled "The Implementation of Vocational Development For Mild Mental Retardation Children in SLB-C Yayasan Karya Bhakti Garut". This research grounded by the problems that arise in mental retardation adult learners. When they were returned to the community, they still depend on others and not financially independent yet. This condition then has an impact on their ability to meet their needs. One of the solutions is to build self-reliance of the mental retardation learners with vocational learning. The purpose of this study was to describe the implementation of vocational development for children with mild mental retardation in SLB-C Yayasan Karya Bhakti Garut. Descriptive and qualitative approach were used to reveal the implementation of the development of vocational in SLB-C Yayasan Karya Bhakti Garut. The techniques used to collect the data were interviews, observation, and documentation study. The results obtained in the implementation of vocational development for children with mild mental retardation in SLB-C Yayasan Karya Bhakti Garut that vocational learning can be developed through homemaking vocation, culinary vocation and agriculture vocation. Some obstacle faced while learning were the organization of teachers, the availability of infrastructure that is not optimal, and the obstacle in marketing. The efforts conducted to overcome these obstacle were maximizing the potential of existing teachers, modifying the available tools to be used for vocational learning activities and promoting the work of students through large events organized in Garut.
