Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara konsep diri dengan strategi coping pada remaja dengan orang tua tunggal di SMKN 8 Bandung. Sampel populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa dengan orang tua tunggal di SMKN 8 Bandung sebanyak 105 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah kuisioner. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengukur konsep diri dibuat peneliti berdasarkan teori Hurlock (1974), sedangkan untuk mengukur strategi coping digunakan kuisioner adaptasi Ways of Coping dari Lazarus (1986). Instrumen konsep diri memiliki reliabilitas Alpha Cronbach sebesar 0,874, sedangkan strategi coping sebesar 0,882. Data dianalisis menggunakan korelasi Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsep diri dan strategi coping memiliki koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,262 pada tingkat signifikansi 0,007. Artinya, terdapat hubungan yang rendah antara konsep diri dengan strategi coping. Selain itu, konsep diri dan problem-focused coping memiliki korelasi sebesar 0,200 dengan signifikansi 0,041, sedangkan untuk konsep diri dan emotion-focused coping memiliki koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,266 dengan signifikansi 0,006. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, diperoleh hubungan rendah antara konsep diri dengan problem focused coping maupun emotion focused coping. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar sampel mempunyai konsep diri yang tinggi, sedangkan strategi coping yang paling banyak digunakan adalah problem-focused coping.----------The aim of this research is discovering the relationship between self concept and coping strategy on adolescence of single parent at SMKN 8 Bandung. Sample of population in this research are 105 students of SMKN 8 Bandung who have single parent. The data in this research was collected by questionnaire technique. Self concept variable is measured by questionnaire which is based on theory of self concept by Hurlock (1974), and coping strategy instrument which is adapted from Ways of Coping by Lazarus (1986). The reliability of self concept and coping strategy instruments are 0,874 and 0,882 respectively on Alpha Cronbach. Data analysis used Spearman correlation. The result showed that self concept and coping strategy correlation is 0,262 in los 0,007. It mean there is a low correlation between self concept and coping strategy. The result also showed, self concept and problem-focused coping correlation is 0,200 in los 0,041, and self concept and emotion-focused coping correlation is 0,266 in los 0,006. Based on the result, there is a low correlation between self concept and problem-focused coping or emotion-focused coping. The result also showed that most of the samples have a high self concept, meanwhile coping strategy most widely used is problem-focused coping.
