Abstract

Guru merupakan faktor penentu dalam tercapainya tujuan pendidikan nasional yang berperan sebagai seorang pengajar, pendidik, pembimbing, dan pembina peserta didik. Guru sebagai unsur terpenting dalam pendidikan mesti berperan aktif untuk memposisikan dirinya sebagai tenaga profesional. Oleh sebab itu, keberadaan guru pendidikan kewarganegaraan memiliki peranan sentral dalam membina karakter peserta didik di sekolah. Secara umum penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui, mengungkapkan, dan mengidentifikasi mengenai peranan guru PKn dalam membina karakter kewarganegaraan di SMPN 3 Cugenang Cianjur. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode studi deskriptif. Pengumpulan data diperoleh melalui wawancara, observasi, studi dokumentasi, dan studi kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian di lapangan mengungkapkan bahwa: 1) proses pelaksanaan pembinaan karakter kewarganegaraan yang dilakukan guru PKn di SMPN 3 Cugenang Cianjur, yaitu (a) dilakukan melalui kegiatan pembelajaran dengan mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai karakter seperti tanggung jawab, kepedulian, kreatif dan cerdas, nasionalisme, dan religius ke dalam materi pembelajaran; (b) di luar pembelajaran dengan menerapkan program sekolah berbasis lingkungan, seperti kegiatan ekstrakurikuler kepramukaan, gerakan pungut sampah, dan ekstrakurikuler kerohanian. 2) Strategi yang dilakukan guru PKn dalam membina karakter kewarganegaraan di SMPN 3 Cugenang Cianjur, yaitu (a) menerapkan metode dan model pembelajaran; (b) menjadi tokoh teladan bagi siswa; (c) menjalin kerjasama dengan guru agama, guru BP, Kepala Sekolah, Wali Kelas, orang tua, dan masyarakat. 3) Hambatan-hambatan yang dihadapi guru PKn dalam membina karakter kewarganegaraan di SMPN 3 Cugenang Cianjur, yaitu: (a) rendahnya pemahaman siswa; (b) adanya keterbatasan waktu yang dimiliki oleh guru; (c) nilai-nilai karakter yang dikembangkan oleh guru belum terjabarkan dalam indikator yang representatif; (d) pengaruh budaya sikap/perilaku individualis; (e) perubahan budaya di lingkungan pergaulan siswa yang kurang baik. 4) Upaya-upaya guru PKn dalam membina karakter kewarganegaraan, yaitu: (a) memberikan pemahaman kepada siswa tentang arti penting karakter; (b) menjalin kerjasama dan komunikasi dengan LPMP, orang tua, dan masyarakat; (c) pendekatan keagamaan; (d) menjadi sumber keteladanan bagi siswa. Berdasarkan pemaparan tersebut, pihak sekolah bersama dengan orang tua dan masyarakat mestinya membentuk paguyuban karakter yang dapat memberikan kontribusi positif bagi pembentukan, peningkatan, pembudayaan, dan pemberadaban perilaku baik bagi peserta didik di lingkungan sekolah dan masyarakat luas.----------Teacher is a factor which determine to achieve national education goal which act as a teacher, mentor, and as a student’s guide. Teacher as the most important factor in an education must active to place themself as a professional. Therefore, the existance of a civics subject teacher have a central act to guide the character of their students in school. in general this research has a goal to know, to unearth, and identify the role of civics subject teacher in guiding the civics character in SMPN 3 Cugenang Cianjur. The approach use in this research is a qualitative approach by using a descriptive study method. The data collection are gathered through interview, observation, documentation study and document study. The result of study on the field shows that :1) the process of guiding civic character done by civics subject teacher at SMPN 3 Cugenang Cianjur, which are (a) done through a learning activity by integrating character value such as responsibilities, caring, smart and creative, nationalism and religious to the teaching material; (b) outside learning activity by applying a school programme based environment such as extracurricular scouting, movement garbage collection, and religious spirituality. 2) a strategy done by a civics subject teacher in guiding civics character at SMPN 3 Cugenang Cianjur, which are (a) applying methods and models of study; (b) become a moral figure for a student; (c) bind a cooperation with spiritual/religious teacher, counseling teacher, principal, homeroom teacher, parents and society. 3) obstacle faced by a civics subject teacher on guiding a civics character at SMPN 3 Cugenang Cianjur, which are: (a) student’s low understanding; (b) teacher’s limited time on school; (c) character’s value developed by the teachers are not applied yet on a representative indicator; (d) the influence of attitude/behavior individualist culture; (e) the innapropiate culture alteration on student’s commingling society. 4) the efforts of civics subject teacher on guiding civics character, which are; (a) to give an understanding to students on studendts about the importance of a character/personality; (b) to attain a cooperation and communication with LPMP, parents and society; (c) spiritual/religious approach; (d) becoma a source of moral for students. According to those fact, the school alongside with parents and society should create a character’s community that could add a positive contribution for a creating, increasing, culturalizing, and civilizing behaviour either for a students in school or in the society.
