Abstract

Hutan pantai Leuweung Sancang merupakan kawasan konservasi dengan status Cagar Alam. Identifikasi tumbuhan pantai sangat diperlukan untuk mengetahui komposisi tumbuhan yang mendukung kawasan konservasi tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui struktur vegetasi dan keanekaragaman tumbuhan pantai di hutan pantai Leuweung Sancang, Kecamatan Cibalong, Kabupaten Garut. Penelitian ini dilakukan di hutan pantai Leuweung Sancang yang dibatasi oleh Sungai Cikolomberan dan Sungai Cipalawah, dengan menggunakan metode belt transect. Belt transect dipasang secara tegak lurus dengan garis pantai sebanyak 11 unit berukuran 60 x 20 m, dengan pengamatan pada masing-masing belt transect menggunakan kuadran berukuran 20 x 20 m sebanyak 3 unit. Hasil penelitian menemukan 361 individu tumbuhan yang terdiri dari 44 species yang termasuk ke dalam 29 familia. Species dengan jumlah individu terbanyak adalah Mallotus tiliifolius (34 individu) dari familia Euphorbiaceae. Species dengan Indeks Nilai Penting (INP) tertinggi secara keseluruhan adalah Terminalia catappa sebesar 33,52896. Terminalia catappa dengan INP tertinggi menunjukkan mampu mempengaruhi kestabilan dan melakukan kontrol atas aliran energi dalam ekosistem. Pada hutan pantai terdekat dengan garis pantai (zona 1) didominasi oleh Terminalia catappa (INP = 57,75481), pada pertengahan hutan pantai (zona 2) didominasi oleh Shorea sp. (INP = 43,177), dan pada hutan pantai yang terjauh dari garis pantai didominasi oleh Elaeocarpus serratus (INP = 34,74524). Nilai indeks keanekaragaman Shannon-Wiener (H’) tumbuhan pantai di hutan pantai Leuweung Sancang adalah 3,33475. Nilai H’ tumbuhan pantai termasuk ke dalam kategori tinggi menunjukan ekosistem hutan pantai Leuweung Sancang memiliki kestabilan ekosistem yang baik. ---------- Leuweung Sancang coastal forest is a conservation area with Nature Reserve status. Identification of coastal vegetation is needed to determine the composition of vegetation that support the conservation area. This study aims to determine the structure of vegetation and diversity of coastal plants in Leuweung Sancang coastal forest, Cibalong District, Garut. This research was conducted in Leuweung Sancang coastal forest which is bounded by Cipalawah and Cikolomberan river, by using the belt transect method. Belt transect in pairs perpendicular to the coastline as many as 11 units measuring 60 x 20 m, with observations on each belt transect using quadrant measuring 20 x 20 m as many as 3 units. The study found 361 individual plants that consists of 44 species included in 29 familia. Species with the highest number of individuals is Mallotus tiliifolius (34 individual) from familia Euphorbiaceae. Species with the highest Importance Value Index (IVI) overall is Terminalia catappa amounted to 33.52896. Terminalia catappa with the highest IVI showed capable of affecting the stability and control the flow of energy in the ecosystem. In the nearby coastal forest to the shoreline (zone 1) is dominated by Terminalia catappa (IVI = 57.75481), in the middle of coastal forest (zone 2) is dominated by Shorea sp. (IVI = 43.177), and the furthest coastal forest from the coastline is dominated by Elaeocarpus serratus (IVI = 34.74524). The value of the Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H') coastal vegetation in Leuweung Sancang coastal forest is 3.33475. The H' value of coastal vegetation included in high category shows Leuweung Sancang coastal forest ecosystem has good ecosystem stability.
