Abstract

Pembelajaran adalah proses interaksi siswa dengan guru dan sumber belajar pada suatu lingkungan belajar. Proses pembelajaran perlu direncanakan, dilaksanakan, dinilai, dan diawasi agar terlaksana secara efektif dan efisien. Akan tetapi menurut Amalia (2008 : 2), pada kebanyakan proses pembelajaran, posisi siswa adalah pasif dan hanya menerima informasi sehingga siswa tidak memiliki kebebasan untuk berpikir dan siswa kurang menggali informasi yang diterimanya. Sebagai akibat dari keadaan tersebut, pada akhirnya kemampuan siswa untuk memahami konsep fisika sangatlah rendah. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, model pembelajaran problem based instruction dapat dijadikan salah satu alternatif model pembelajaran yang diterapkan. Pemahaman yang dimaksud adalah pemahaman (comprehension) berdasarkan taksonomi kognitif Bloom, yaitu kemampuan translasi (menterjemahkan), kemampuan interpretasi (menafsirkan), dan kemampuan ekstrapolasi (meramalkan). Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah one group pretest posttest time series design. Penelitian ini dilakukan di salah satu SMK Negeri di Bandung dengan sampel penelitian kelas X. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah berupa soal-soal pemahaman konsep yang telah diujicoba dan dianalisis untuk mengetahui validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Temuan penelitian ini adalah bahwa pemahaman konsep fisika siswa pada setiap aspeknya mengalami peningkatan setelah diimplementasikan model pembelajaran problem based instruction. Aspek-aspek pemahaman konsep siswa yang dikemukakan oleh Bloom (1979: 89) mengalami peningkatan yang berbeda-beda. Pemahaman konsep fisika siswa pada aspek translasi mengalami peningkatan paling besar, diinterpretasikan dalam kategori tinggi. Sedangkan pemahaman konsep fisika siswa pada aspek interpretasi dan ekstrapolasi diinterpretasikan dalam kategori sedang. Dengan demikian, didapat kesimpulan bahwa model pembelajaran problem based instruction dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep fisika siswa. Kata Kunci : Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Instruction, pemahaman konsep Learning is a process of interaction of students with teachers and learning resources in a learning environment. The learning process needs to be planned, implemented, assessed, and monitored in order to run effectively and efficiently. However, according to Amalia (2008: 2), in the majority of the learning process, students are passive position and only receive information so that students do not have the freedom to think and explore students' lack of information it receives. As a result of these circumstances, in the end the ability of students to understand the concepts of physics is very low. To overcome these problems, a model of problem based instruction can be used as an alternative model of applied learning. Understanding of the question is the understanding (comprehension) based on Bloom's cognitive taxonomy, which is the ability of translation (translate), the ability of interpretation (interpreting), and the ability to extrapolate (predict). The research design used was a one-group pretest-posttest design time series. The research was conducted in one of the SMK in Bandung with sample class X. The instrument used was a concept of understanding the problems that have been tested and analyzed to determine its validity and reliability. The findings of this study is that the students' understanding of physics concepts in every aspect of it has increased after the implementation of model of problem based instruction. Aspects of students' understanding of the concept proposed by Bloom (1979: 89) has increased different. Students' understanding of physics concepts in translational aspects have increased the most, interpreted in the high category. While the students' understanding of physics concepts on aspects of interpretation and extrapolation interpreted in the medium category. Thus, it could be concluded that the model of problem based instruction can improve students' understanding of physics concepts.
