Abstract

Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh keberadaan Kabupaten Garut yang memiliki potensi risiko bencana peringkat pertama di Indonesia. Sebanyak 21.576 hektar (7,02%) daerah Garut rawan terkena dampak bencana letusan gunungapi. Daerah rawan bencana perlu disosialisasikan terhadap masyarakat termasuk peserta didik untuk meminimalisir risiko. Geografi dipandang sebagai mata pelajaran yang mampu memberikan pemahaman mengenai bencana dan mitigasinya. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 195 orang peserta didik di 10 SMA yang berada di Kawasan Rawan Bencana Gunungapi di Kabupaten Garut, dengan tujuan untuk (1) mengetahui pemahaman peserta didik mengenai bencana gunungapi dan mitigasinya (2) mengkaji proses pembelajaran geografi dan kaitannya dengan mitigasi bencana gunungapi (3) mengukur besarnya peranan pembelajaran geografi terhadap pemahaman peserta didik mengenai bencana gunungapi dan mitigasinya. Data dikumpulkan berdasarkan observasi, wawancara, studi dokumentasi, soal pemahaman serta kuesioner. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah survei dengan pendekatan kuantitatif menggunakan analisis regresi linier berganda dengan formula Y = a + b1X1+b2X2........bnXn. Berdasarkan temuan dapat disimpulkan bahwa (1) Pemahaman peserta didik mayoritas (19%) berada pada tingkatan menafsirkan (interpreting) (2) Proses pembelajaran geografi dipengaruhi sebanyak 30% oleh bahan ajar yang digunakan. (3) Pembelajaran geografi memberikan kontribusi sebesar 62,7% terhadap pemahaman peserta didik mengenai bencana gunungapi dan mitigasinya dan sisanya dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain. ---------- The background research by the presence of Garut regency which has the potential disaster risk ranked first in Indonesia. A total of 21 576 hectares (7.02%) Garut areas prone to volcanic eruptions affected. . Disaster-prone areas need to be disseminated to the public, including learners to minimize risk. Geography seen as subjects who are able to provide an understanding of the disaster and its mitigation. This research was conducted on 195 students at 10 high schools located in the area of Disaster Risk volcano in Garut regency, with the aim to (1) know the students understanding about volcanic disasters and mitigation (2) assessing the learning process of geography and its relation to mitigation of volcanic disasters (3) to measure the magnitude of the role of teaching geography to the understanding of learners about volcanic disasters and mitigation. Data collected by observation, interview, documentation study, about understanding and questionnaires. The method used in this study is a survey with quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis with the formula Y = a + b1x1 + b2X2 ........ bnXn. Based on the findings it can be concluded that (1) An understanding of learners majority (19%) had a level interpreting (2) The learning process is influenced geography as much as 30% by the teaching materials used. (3) Learning geography accounted for 62.7% of the students understanding about volcanic disasters and mitigation and the rest influenced by other factors.
