Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis keterampilan Attending calon konselor dalam membangun Rapport dengan konseli. Fokus penelitian untuk melihat gambaran keterampilan Attending calon konselor, pemaknaan rapport yang dilakukan calon konselor dalam perspektif konseli dan perspektif multikultur, serta implikasinya terhadap proses konseling. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif menggunakan pendekatan etnometodologi. Penelitian dilakukan pada mahasiswa bimbingan dan konseling UNJ angkatan 2013. Partisipan ditentukan melalui metodologi kelompok fokus sebanyak 8 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukan calon konselor sudah menunjukkan keterampilan attending baik dari segi verbal maupun non-verbal. Ada pengaruh yang dirasakan konseli baik dari aspek sikap konselor maupun implikasi dari konseling. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan respon verbal konselor dalam attending ini ditunjukan melalui : memberikan edukasi mengenai proses konseling, memberikan motivasi kepada konseli untuk terlibat dalam konseling, menemukan titik temu antara pedoman konseling dan keinginan konseli. Dari perspektif budaya, tidak ada perbedaan keterampilan attending, sedangkan dari berbagai lintas budaya respon konseling banyak dipengaruhi oleh proses sosialiasi formal. Rekomendasi bagi peneliti selanjutnya dapat mengembangkan penelitian lebih spesifik pada penilaian kualitas keterampilan attending konselor dan mengembangkan keterampilan komunikasi konseling calon konselor. Bagi peneliti selanjutnya diharapkan untuk membuat penelitian yang cenderung sama namun dilakukan di daerah-daerah yang masih kuat dengan adat, nilai, dan norma budaya ---------- The purpose of this study is to analyze Attending skill of prospective counselors in building Rapport with counselees. Hence, the focus of this study is to see the overview of prospective counselors’ Attending skill, purposing Rapport conducted by prospective counselors in perspective of counselees, multicultural perspective, and its implications to counseling process. This qualitative research used etnomethodology approach. The study was conducted on guidance and counseling students in Jakarta State University class of 2013. Eight participants were determined through methodology of focus group. The result of study shows prospective counselors has shown Attending skill in terms both of verbal and non-verbal. There is influence perceived by counselees from both of counselor attitude aspect and implication of the counseling. The findings of the study shows the response of counselors in Attending is shown through: providing education about counseling process, giving motivation to counselees to engage in counseling, find meeting point between counseling guideline and counselees’ desire. From cultural perspective, there is no difference in skill attend from various across cultures. Many responses are influenced by formal socialization process. Subsequent researcher could develop research specific more on quality attend skills counselor and develop the skills of Communication Counseling Prospective counselor. Moreover, researcher is expected to make same study conducted in areas with strong customs, values, and cultural norms.
