Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada pengembangan water tank filling system (wtfs) dan implementasinya sebagai media pembelajaran pada proses pembelajaran mata kuliah Sistem Kendali yang diselenggarakan oleh program Pendidikan Teknik Elektro S-1 di DPTE FPTK UPI. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Gedung Laboratorium Lama FPTK UPI dan juga di Laboratorium Elektronika Industri DPTE FPTK UPI, dengan subjek penelitian adalah para mahasiswa peserta perkuliahan Sistem Kendali Pendidikan Teknik Elektro S-1 DPTE FPTK UPI tahun akademik 2014/2015 semester genap yang berjumlah 43 orang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui relevansi wtfs yang diterapkan sebagai media pembelajaran terhadap materi-materi pokok yang dipelajari pada mata kuliah Sistem Kendali. Disamping itu, juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui dampak penggunaan wtfs dan berbagai macam kendalanya selama proses implementasi pada perkuliahan Sistem Kendali tersebut berlangsung. Penelitian yang dilakukan, secara umum terdiri dari studi dokumentasi, diskusi, kegiatan observasi selama proses implementasi sedang berjalan, dan pengumpulan pendapat mahasiswa sebagai pengguna wtfs melalui wawancara dan angket. Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat tiga pokok bahasan yang mempunyai tingkat relevansi yang cukup baik jika diterapkan wtfs ini, yaitu pengantar sistem kontrol, konsep aksi dasar pengontrolan dan kontrol automatik di industri, dan konsep-konsep teknik desain dan kompensasi. Hasil penelitian lainnya menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan wtfs sebagai media pembelajaran ini membantu mahasiswa untuk lebih memahami materi dan penerapan teori Sistem Kendali yang sedang dibahas dalam lingkungan yang lebih real, meskipun masih berupa miniatur sistem kendali yang sederhana. Data-data yang terkumpul dari hasil penelitian ini diharapkan bisa menjadi bahan acuan untuk pengembangan wtfs kedepannya. This study focuses on the developing of water tank filling control system (wtfs) and its implementation as a medium of learning in the learning process of Control System which organized by the Electrical Engineering Education on undergraduate program at Department of Electrical Engineering Education Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education, Indonesia University of Education (known as DPTE FPTK UPI). This research was conducted in the Old Laboratory Building FPTK UPI and also at the Laboratory of Electronics Industry DPTE FPTK UPI, the research subjects were the 43 students participating in the course of Control Systems Electrical Engineering Education for the undergraduate program of DPTE FPTK UPI, even semester, academic year 2014/205. This study aims to determine the relevance of wtfs applied as a medium of learning against subject material studied in the Control System. Besides that, it also aims to determine the impact of the use of wtfs and various obstacles during the implementation process in the course of the Control System is underway. The research processes itself, generally consists of the study of documentation, discussion, observation activities during the implementation process is running, and the collection of student opinion as wtfs users through interviews and questionnaires. The research method used was qualitative and descriptive approach. Results of this study indicates that there are three topics that have a fairly good level of relevance if wtfs is applied, namely the introduction of control systems, the basic concept of action control and automatic control in the industry, and the concepts of design and compensation techniques. Other research results indicates that the use of wtfs as a medium of learning helps students to better understand the material and application of the theory of control systems that are being discussed in a more real environment, though still in the form of a simple control system miniature. The data collected from this study is expected to be a reference for future development of this wtfs.
