Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari penggunaan media diorama dalam mengembangkan kemampuan argumentasi siswa pada materi siklus hidrologi. Penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam penelitian eksperimental berjenis quasi eksperimental.Sampel penelitian diambil menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, di mana kedua kelas penelitian ini dipilih dengan tujuan tertentu dari populasi yang ada dengan asumsi bahwa populasi memiliki tingkat kemampuan yang sama karena diajar oleh guru yang sama. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMA Negeri 6 Cimahi dengan melibatkan siswa kelas X yang terbagi menjadi dua kelompok sampel penelitian yakni kelas kontrol dan kelas penelitian. Kedua kelompok penelitian diberi pre-test dan post-test. Selain itu, kelompok sampel kelas penelitian diberi pula isian lembar kuesioner untuk menjaring respon siswa mengenai penggunaan diorama dalam mengembangkan kemampuan argumentasi siswa. Kualitas argumentasi siswa ditentukan berdasarkan Pola Argumentasi Toulmin (Toulmin’s Argumentatuon Pattern) lalu dikelompokkan tingkatannya berdasarkan Erduran’s Analytical Framework for Assessing Quality of Argumentsdan dianalisis berdasarkan kesesuaiannya dengan konsep siklus hidrologi. Adapun instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yakni lembar pengukuran argumentasi, lembar kuesioner bagi siswa, dan lembar kuesioner bagi guru. Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis secara statistik nonparametrik berjenis uji Mann-Whitney dengan menggunakan bantuan software IBM SPSS Statistics 20.0. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini adalah tolak hipotesis H1 yang berarti bahwa terdapatperbedaan hasil mengenai kualitas argumentasi siswa pada kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimenwalaupun tidak signifikan dengan perbedaan nilai signifikansi Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) mencapai 1,31 poin. Kata kunci: Diorama, Kemampuan Argumentasi Siswa, Siklus Hidrologi This study aimed to learnabout the use of diorama in developing students argumentation’s skill on hydrological cycle subject. This study was a quasi experimental. Samples were choosen by using purposive sampling technique, in which both samples were under the assumption that they had the same level of prior skill as taught by the same teacher. This research was held in SMAN 6 Cimahi by involving students of tenth grade thatwere divided into two groups, the control class and research class. Both research groups were given a pre-test and post-test. In addition, the research class was given two questionnaires to collect students’ responses of the use of diorama in developing students argumentation’s skill. The quality of students’ argumentation was determined by using Toulmin's Argumentation Pattern and was leveled based on Erduran's Analytical Framework for Assessing the Quality of Arguments.Besides, it analyzed based on its relevance to the hydrological cycle concept. The research instruments werethe argument measurement sheet, questionnaires for students, and a questionnaire for teacher. The collected data wereanalyzed statistically using Mann-Whitney test with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics 20.0 software. The result of this study refused H1hypothesis, which mean that there was differences regarding the students argumentation’s qualityalthough it was not significant with the differences ofsignificant value Asymp.
