Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi optimum adsorpsi warna ekstrak cincau hijau menggunakan arang bambu (Gigantochloa verticillata) tercampur bentonit serta karakterisasinya. Arang bambu diaktivasi dengan larutan H3PO4 5%, 10% dan 15% serta pemanasan pada suhu 700oC selama 60 menit. Sedangkan bentonit diaktivasi menggunakan larutan HCl 5 N dengan pemanasan pada suhu 70oC. Preparasi ekstrak cincau hijau dilakukan dengan pelarut air dan metanol. Selanjutnya dilakukan pengontakkan adsorben dengan ekstrak cincau hijau. Adsorben sebelum dan sesudah kontak dikarakterisasi menggunakan instrumentasi FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectometer) dan analisis SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope). Arang bambu aktif yang diaktivasi dengan larutan H3PO4 5% memiliki daya adsorpsi (96,04%) dan randemen (58,2%) paling tinggi. Perbandingan optimum pada pencampuran arang bambu dan bentonit adalah 3:1. Kondisi optimum pengontakkan ekstrak cincau hijau dengan adsorben adalah pada konsentrasi adsorben 1,5% dan lama waktu kontak 10 menit. Hasil analisis FTIR menunjukkan bahwa adsorben yang telah dikontakkan dengan ekstrak cincau hijau tidak mengalami perubahan secara kimia. Sedangkan berdasarkan analisis SEM, adsorben sebelum dan sesudah pengontakkan tidak mengalami perubahan secara signifikan (pori-pori adsorben masih terbuka). Kata kunci: Arang bambu, bentonit, ekstrak cincau hijau, adsorpsi The purpose of this research is to optimize condition in color adsorption of green cincau extract used bamboo charcoal (Gigantochloa verticillata) and bentonite with characterization. Bamboo charcoal activated with 5%, 10% and 15% H3PO4 solution and heated at temperature 700oC for 60 minutes. Whereas bentonite was activated with 5 N HCl solution and heated at temperature 70oC. Green cincau was extracted with water and metanol. And then the extract was contacted with adsorbent (bamboo charcoal and bentonite). Adsorbent pre and post contacts were characterized by fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Bamboo charcoal which activated by 5% H3PO4 solution has adsorption capacity (96,04%) and the highest randemen is 58,2%. Optimum ratio of bamboo charcoal and bentonite was 3:1. Optimum contacted condition green cincau extract with adsorbent were 1,5% adsorbent concentration and ten minutes contact time. The FTIR spectrum show that adsorben which contacted with green cincau extract did not change chemical characterization. According to SEM analysis, adsorbent pre and post contact did not change significantly (adsorbent pores not closed). Keywords: Bamboo charcoal, bentonite, green cincau extract, adsorption
