Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh beberapa masalah yang dihadapi siswa dalam keaktifan belajar. Hal ini didasarkan pada hasil observasi yang dilakukan sebelum melakukan penelitian yang menunjukkan bahwa dalam keaktifan belajar siswa masih kurang aktif. Untuk menjawab permasalahan tersebut, dilakukan penelitian tindakan dengan menerapkan pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) untuk meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa pada kelas III Sekolah Dasar dengan materi tentang kegiatan jual beli. Secara umum tujuan penelitian ini adalah dengan menerapkan pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa. Sedangkan tujuan khusus dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) Untuk mengetahui proses pembelajaran IPS dalam menerapkan pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) untuk meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa di kelas III, (2) Untuk mengetahui peningkatan keaktifan belajar siswa di kelas III dalam menerapkan pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) pada pembelajaran IPS. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang diadaptasi dari model Kemmis & Mc. Taggart yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Pelaksanaan penelitian sebanyak dua siklus dengan menerapkan pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) pada proses pembelajarannya. Hasil penelitian dengan menerapkan pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) pada pembelajaran IPS, disimpulkan dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa. Terbukti dari data yang diperoleh yaitu, keaktifan belajar siswa pada siklus I meningkat 9% dari pra-siklus dengan memperoleh persentase sebesar 59% sebelum menerapkan pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dengan memperoleh persentase sebesar 68%. Dan pada siklus II meningkat menjadi 83% atau meningkat 15% dari hasil siklus I. Berdasarkan data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa proses pembelajaran dengan menerapkan pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa. This research was motivated by some of students’ problems regarding learning activeness. It was based on the observation result prior to this research which showed that students’ learning activeness was still low. To answer those problems, an action research had been done for applying the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach to improve students’ learning activeness in a third grade class of elementary school by using trading as the material. Generally, this research aimed to improve the students’ learning activeness by applying the CTL Approach. Meanwhile, the specific purposes of this research were: (1) to find out the process of learning social science by applying the CLT approach to enhance the learning activeness of third grade students, (2) to find out the improvement of students’ learning activeness in third grade by applying the CLT approach to social science learning. This research was an action research which was adapted from a model developed by Kemmis & Mc Taggart, which are: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This research was going through two cycles by applying the CLT approach to both cycles. In conclusion, by using CLT approach in social science learning, it was found out that students’ activeness in the first cycle gained 9% of improvement, or increased to 68% from the pre-cycle which was 59% before the implementation of the CLT Approach. Furthermore, the second cycle was increased to 83% or gained 15% of improvement from the first cycle. Based on the data, it could be concluded that the learning process which used CLT approach could improve the students’ learning activeness.
