Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan siswa kelas IV di SDN Sarijadi Kota Bandung dalam melakukan operasi hitung pecahan. Hal ini terbukti dari banyaknya nilai siswa yang masih dibawah KKM karena kurangnya pemahaman siswa terhadap pembelajaran pecahan. Pendekatan pembelajaran yang dilakukan berpusat pada guru, tidak menggunakan media, dan menggunakan metode konvensional. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pelaksanaan pembelajaran PBL pada materi operasi hitung pecahan serta untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa kelas IV pada operasi hitung pecahan. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, peneliti merancang penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan selama tiga siklus dimana setiap siklusnya memiliki tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 18 siswa kelas IV di SDN Sarijadi Kota Bandung. Pengumpulan data diperoleh melalui observasi, catatan lapangan, unjuk kerja siswa, dan tes individu. Pada hasil penelitian siklus I, skor rata-rata yang diperoleh siswa dalam satu kelas adalah 67 dengan persentase ketuntasan sebanyak 55,56%. Pada siklus II skor rata-rata siswa mengalami peningkatan menjadi 79,94 dengan persentase ketuntasan 72,22%. Pada siklus III skor rata-rata siswa meningkat menjadi 88,08 dengan persentase ketuntasan 83,33%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan PBL dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa kelas IV SDN Sarijadi Kota Bandung pada operasi hitung pecahan. Beberapa hal yang harus diperhatikan guru dalam menggunakan pendekatan PBL yaitu: 1) Guru harus membimbing siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah melalui tahapan-tahapan yang mudah dipahami siswa; 2) Guru memberikan peluang jawaban beragam kepada siswa; 3) pengelolaan kelas harus direncanakan dengan matang mengingat banyak kegiatan dan tahapan selama menggunakan PBL. This research is motivated by the low ability of fourth grade students at SDN Sarijadi, Bandung in performing fractional calculate operations. It is evident from the number of students who are still below the value of KKM grade due to a lack of understanding of student’s learning fractions. Learning approach that undertaken is teacher-centered, teacher do not use the media, and using conventional methods. The purpose of this study was to discover the implementation of PBL learning in material fractional calculate operations as well as to increase the ability of fourth grade students in fraction arithmetic operations. To achieve these goals, the researchers designed a classroom action research conducted during three cycles where in each cycle has a stage of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects consisted of 18 students of the fourth grade in SDN Sarijadi of Bandung city. Data accumulation obtained through observation, field notes, student performance, and individual test. At the first cycle of research result, the average scores obtained by students in the class is 67 with the percentage of completeness as much as 55,56%. At the second cycle, students’ average score increased into 79,94 with the percentage of 72,22% completeness. At the third cycle, students’ average score increased to 88,08 with the percentage of 83,33% completeness. It can be concluded that PBL approach can increase the ability of fourth grade students of SDN Sarijadi Bandung on fractional calculate operations. Several things to be aware of teacher in using PBL approach, namely: 1) Teacher should guide students in solving problems through stages that are easy to understand by students; 2) Teacher provide opportunities to students variation answer; 3) Classroom management must be planned carefully considering of many activities and stages when using PBL.
