    Abstract

    Metode pembelajaran yang kurang efektif mengakibatkan proses belajar tidak berjalan secara kreatif, dan menyenangkan. Sehingga konsentrasi siswa terpecah dengan hal lainnya, akibatnya siswa kurang memahami materi pelajaran. Pada pelajaran konstruksi bangunan, menuntut siswa mengetahui dan memahami tentang materi yang disampaikan. Materi pada pelajaran konstruksi bangunan ini tidak sedikit sehingga memerlukan metode pembelajaran yang tepat dan sesuai dengan pelajaran. Salah satu metode pembelajaran yang dijadikan alternatif adalah metode pembelajaran Problem Based Learning, dengan metode ini mampu meningkatkan motivasi dan aktivitas pembelajaran siswa, mengembangkan kemampuan siswa untuk berpikir kritis dan mengembangkaan kemampuan mereka untuk menyesuikan dengan pengetahuan baru, tetapi tetap dalam pengawasan guru. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui : (1) Seberapa besar pemahaman siswa dengan menggunakan metode pembelajaran konvensional, (2) Seberapa besar pemahaman siswa dengan menggunakan metode pembelajaran Problem Based Learnig, (3) Metode pembelajaran manakah yang dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa antara metode pembelajaran Problem Based Learnig dengan metode pembelajaran konvensional, (4) Apakah terdapat kendala dalam penerapan metode pembelajaran Problem Based Learning.
    Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah : (1) 36% siswa yang lulus dengan menggunakan metode konvensional (2) 100% siswa yang lulus dengan menggunakan metode Problem Based Learning (3) Metode pembelajaran Problem Based Learning lebih baik dibandingkan dengan metode konvensional (4) Kelas yang berada dibengkel membuat kendala dalam penerapan metode Problem Based Learning.
    Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa dengan menggunakan metode pembelajaran Problem Based Learning lebih baik dibandingkan dengan metode pembelajaran konvensional.

    Learning method that is less effective causes the learning process does not run creatively and pleasantly so student’s focus would be distracted and lead them to not fully understand the subject matter that has been taught. The materials of Building Construction subject is not exactly small, therefore the right method is needed so that the matter will be delivered thoroughly to the students. One of the learning method can be used as the alternative is Problem Based Learning method which could increase motivation and activity of the students. In addition, this method also could develop students’ ability to think critically and develop their skills related to their new knowledge but still in teacher’s supervision. The aim of this research are; (1) To discover students comprehension using conventional learning method, (2) To discover students comprehension using Problem Based Learning Method; (3) To discover of which learning method that is better for students comprehension, the conventional method or Problem Based Learning Method; (3) To discover the obstacle of application of problem based learning method.
    Method that is used in this research is experiment method. The research outcomes show : (1) There are 36% of students passed the test used conventional method; (2) there are 100% of students passed the test used problem based learning method; (3) Problem based learning method is better than conventional method; (4) The location of the class could be the obstacle of the application of problem based learning method. In conclusion, it is proven that problem based learning method is better than the conventional method.
