Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan literasi sains dan keterampilan pemecahan masalah siswa SMP melalui implementasi model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) pada pembelajaran IPA Terpadu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Quasi Eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Nonequivalent Pretest and Postest Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 54 orang siswa kelas VII dari salah satu SMPN di Kota Bandung. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah Purposive Sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu menggunakan lembar observasi, tes literasi sains, tes keterampilan pemecahan masalah, dan angket tanggapan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterlaksanaan implementasi model PBL pada pembelajaran IPA terpadu terlaksana dengan sangat baik. Peningkatan kemampuan literasi sains ditunjukkan oleh pencapaian N-gain literasi sains pada aspek pengetahuan dan kompetensi pada kelas eksperimen 0,48 (sedang) dan N-gain kelas kontrol 0,37 (sedang), sedangkan N-gain literasi aspek sikap sains pada kelas eksperimen 0,48 (sedang) dan N-gain kelas kontrol 0,32 (sedang). Peningkatan keterampilan pemecahan masalah ditunjukkan oleh N-gain kelas eksperimen 0,80 (tinggi) dan N-gain kelas kontrol 0,57 (sedang). Hubungan literasi sains dan keterampilan pemecahan masalah adalah cukup kuat. Siswa menyatakan respon positif terhadap penerapan model PBL pada pembelajaran IPA terpadu. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa implementasi model PBL lebih baik dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi sains dan keterampilan pemecahan masalah siswa dibandingkan dengan kelas yang tidak menggunakan model PBL. The purpose of this study was to analyze the enhancement of the middle school student scientific literacy and problem solving skill through implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in integrated science learning. The research was used quasi experiment method with nonequivalent pre-test and post-test control group design with experiment class and control class. The sample of this research was 54 first grade students from one of middle school in Bandung city by using purposive sampling. Data was collected through observation sheet, scientific literacy test, problem solving skill test, and questionnaire response of students about implementation of PBL model. The result of this study showed that implementation of PBL model in integrated science learning were successfully. Enhancement student’s scientific literacy showed by N-gain scientific literacy in knowledge and competence aspect in experiment class is 0,48 (moderate) and N-gain in control class is 0,37 (moderate), N-gain scientific literacy in attitude aspect in experiment class is 0,48 (moderate) and N-gain in control class is 0,32 (moderate). Enhancement student’s problem solving skill showed by N-gain problem solving skill in experiment skill is 0,80 (high) and N-gain problem solving skill in control class is 0,57 (moderate). Relation between scientific literacy and problem solving skills are strong enough. Students expressed a positive response to the implementation of PBL model in integrated science learning. The conclusion of this study is the implementation of PBL model in integrated science learning in experiment class can enhance student’s scientific literacy and problem solving skill better than control class.
