Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis penerapan brain based learning terhadap peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman dan komunikasi matematis serta kecemasan matematis siswa MTs. Selain itu, dikaji juga hubungan antara kemampuan pemahaman matematis, komunikasi matematis dan kecemasan matematis siswa. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII satu diantara MTs. yang ada. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain kelompok kontrol non-ekuivalen. Teknik pengambilan sampel purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa pretes, postes, lembar observasi, wawancara dan angket skala kecemasan matematis siswa. Pengolahan data ini menggunakan software SPSS 20 dan Ms. Excel 2010. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah (1) Peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang memperoleh brain based learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional, (2) Peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh brain based learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional, (3) Kecemasan Matematis siswa yang memperoleh brain based learning sama dengan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional; (4) Terdapat hubungan positif antara kemampuan pemahaman dan komunikasi matematis; (5) Terdapat hubungan negatif antara kemampuan pemahaman dan kecemasan matematis; (6) Terdapat hubungan negatif antara kemampuan komunikasi dan kecemasan matematis. The aim of this study is to analyze the influence of brain based learning, the enhancement of mathematical understanding, mathematical communication ability and mathematical anxiety reduction of Junior High School students. In addition, the relation between student’s mathematical understanding, mathematical communication ability and mathematical anxiety is study also. Subjects in this study is one among the students of class VII MTs. which exists. The method which is used is quasi experiment with non equivalent control group design. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. Instruments which is used are pretes, postest, observation sheet, interview and questionnaire of student’s mathematical anxiety reduction. Data analysis was conducted by using SPSS 20 software and Ms.Excel 2010. Results of study which are obtained are (1) The enhancement of mathematical understanding ability of students who received brain based learning is better than students who received conventional learning, (2) The enhancement of mathematical communication ability of students who received brain based learning is better than students who received conventional learning, (3) There is no difference of mathematical anxiety of students who received brain based learning and students who received conventional learning, (4) there is positif relation between student’s mathematical understanding ability and student’s mathematical communication ability, (5) there is negatif relation between student’s mathematical understanding ability and student’s mathematical anxiety, (6) there is negatif relation between student’s mathematical communication ability and student’s mathematical anxiety.
