Abstract

This research was investigated the impact of Peer Led Team Learning as cooperative learning towards students’ cognitive and leadership skills in learning global warming. The method was used in this research was combination of experiment and descriptive with two group pretest and posttest design. The sample was taken based on purpose, both control and experimental group consist on the same number of students (n=10) of grade 7 in an International School in Bandung. The quantitative data was gained through students’ cognitive test, while the qualitative data was gained through observational sheet and questionnaire. Based on the data and analysis, it is shown that there is no difference of students’ cognitive in learning global warming, the result shown that the significance value is 1.0 higher than 0.05, and the percentage of students’ improvement in experimental group is 30.42 which is lower than the control class which got 34.99%.This result was depend on how team leader guide the students during Peer led Team Learning implementation. However the result of students’ questionnaire in all indicators showed positive response. This research indicates that the roles of peer leader in each team influenced students in gaining the concept. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi pengaruh penerapan pembelajaran Peer Led Team Learning sebagai salah satu pembelajaran kooperatif, terhadap kemampuan berpikir siswa dan kemampuan memimpin siswa dalam mempelajari konsep pemanasan global. Metode yang digunakan di penilitian ini adalah kombinasi antara metode deskriptif dan eksperimen dengan menggunakan pretes dan postes terhadap dua grup. Sampel dalam penelitian ini dipilih berdasarkan kepentingan penlitian, kelas control dan eksperimen adalah kelas 7 SMP tiap kelas berjumlah 10 orang dan penelitian ini dilakukan di salah satu sekolah internasional di Bandung. Data kuantitatif diperoleh dari nilai tes siswa, sedangkan data kualitatif diperoleh dari lembar observasi dan kuisioner. Berdasarkan analisis data, tidak ada perbedaan terhadap kognitif siswa sebelum dan sesudah penerapan Peer Led Team Learning dalam mempelajari pemanasan global, Hasil dari kognitif siswa adalah 1.0 nilai signifikan yang berarti lebih besar dari 0.05, dan persentasi peningkatan jawaban siswa sebelum dan sesudah implementasi pada kelas eksperimen adalah 30.42% lebih rendah dari kelas control yaitu 34.99%. Hasil ini bergantung pada seberapa besar peranan pemimpin grup mengarahkan siswa lain selama implementasi Peer Led Team learning. Selain itu, hasil dari kuisioner siswa di setiap indicator menunjukan respon yang positif. Ini menunjukan bahwa peranan pemimpin grup mempengaruhi siswa dalam memahami konsep.
