Abstract

Kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis dan self-regulated siswa merupakan hal yang sangat penting dalam pembelajaran matematika. Guru dalam memilih strategi pembelajaran perlu mempertimbangkan tugas matematika dan suasana belajar yang dapat memotivasi siswa untuk belajar lebih aktif dan kreatif, serta dapat mencapai kemampuan tersebut. Berdasarkan uraian tersebut, maka pokok permasalahan penelitian yaitu Apakah strategi problem solving menurut Wankat dan Oreovicz dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis dan self-regulated learning siswa? penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis dan self-regulated learning siswa antara siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan strategi problem solving menurut Wankat dan Oreovicz dengan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran ekspositori. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi eksperimen dengan Non Equivalent Pretest-postest Control Group Design. Subjek penelitian kelas V di dua SDN Kecamatan Blanakan Kabupaten Subang. Data diperoleh dari tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis, angket self-regulated learning siswa, serta lembar observasi. Uji coba instrumen tes dan angket, diuji validitas, reliabilitas, tingkat kesukaran, dan daya pembeda. Pengujian statistik, yang diuji normalitas, uji homogenitas, uji perbedaan dua rerata. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) pemahaman konsep matematis dan self-regulated learning siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan strategi problem solving menurut Wankat dan Oreovicz lebih baik dibandingkan dengan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran ekspositori. 2) peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematis dan self-regulated siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan strategi problem solving menurut Wankat dan Oreovicz lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran ekspositori. Dengan demikian strategi problem solving menurut Wankat dan Oreovicz dapat dijadikan alternatif strategi pembelajaran yang dapat diterapkan dalam upaya meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan. The students ability of understanding mathematical concepts and self-regulated is very important and needs to be improved in mathematics. Teachers in choosing a learning strategy needs to consider the task of mathematics and learning environment that can motivate and encourage students to learn more actively and creatively, then can achieve these capabilities. Based on the description, above the topic of the research whether, problem solving strategies according Wankat and Oreovicz can improve the students understanding of mathematical concepts and self-regulated learning? This research aimed to examine the significant differences in upgrading of student understanding mathematical concepts and self-regulated learning between students who get learning with problem solving strategies according Wankat and Oreovicz and students who get expository learning. The method in this research is quasi-experimental method Non Equivalent Pretest-postest Control Group Design. The subject in this research are students of class V in two Elementary School at Blanakan on Subang. Data were obtained from tests the ability of understanding mathematical concepts with learning of geometry/the shapes of plan, questionnaire self-regulated learning of students, and observation sheet. The instrument tests and questionnaires, have tested the validity, reliability, level of difficulty. Statistical testing, which were used for test of the normality, homogeneity, two mean differences. The results showed that 1) the understanding of mathematical concepts and self-regulated learning of students who get learning with problem solving strategies according Wankat and Oreovicz better than students who get expository learning. 2) improved understanding of mathematical concepts and self-regulated learning by students who gain problem solving strategies according Wankat and Oreovicz higher than students who get expository learning. So that, the problem solving strategy according Oreovicz Wankat and can be used as an alternative learning strategies that can be implemented as an effort to improve the quality of education.
