Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh keinginan penulis untuk mengetahui efektivitas teknik show not tell dengan memori otobiografi dalam pembelajaran menulis cerita pendek. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menguji keefektifan teknik show not tell dengan memori otobiografi dalam pembelajaran menulis cerita pendek dan memberikan alternatif teknik pembelajaran menulis cerita pendek di sekolah. Teknik show not tell memiliki prinsip “menggambarkan bukan memberitahukan”, yaitu mengubah “kalimat-kalimat memberitahu” menjadi “paragraf-paragraf menggambarkan’. Memori otobiografi merupakan memori jangka panjang yang dimiliki setiap manusia, di dalamnya terkait dengan histori masa lalu seseorang. Pada penelitian ini, memori otobiografi yang akan digunakan terkait dengan peristiwa penting dalam hidup siswa. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 29 siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan 30 siswa pada kelas kontrol yang diambil secara purposive sampling. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen kuasi yang dilaksanakan dengan adanya kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan perhitungan uji t hipotesis diperoleh hasil thitung (2,629) ≥ ttabel (2,003). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa Ha diterima dan H0 ditolak. Teknik show not tell dengan memori otobiografi terbukti efektif dalam pembelajaran menulis cerita pendek. The study backed by the desire of the author to determine the effectiveness of show not tell technique with autobiography memory in learning a short story writing. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of show not tell technique with autobiography memory in learning a short story writing and provides an alternative technique of teaching a short story writing for teachers in schools. Show not tell technique have a principle “show not tell”, that is change “inform sentences” into “describe paragraph”. autobiography memory is long term memory that every human is already have, in it related to a person's past history. In this study, autobiography memory will be use is related with important event in student’s life. The sample in this study amounted to 29 students in the experimental class and 30 students in the control class who are taken by purposive sampling. The method used in this research is a quasi experimental design with existence of control group. Based on the calculation t test hypothesis the result tcount (2,629)> ttable (2,003). So that showed Ha accepted and Ho rejected. The results showed that the show not tell technique with autobiography memory in teaching a short story writing is effective.
