Abstract

Perpustakaan masjid termasuk pada kategori perpustakaan khusus karena koleksinya khusus, yaitu terbatas pada bidang keagamaan atau studi agama Islam ditambah dengan koleksi lain serta ditujukan kepada pemustaka tertentu walaupun beragam profesi dan aktivitas. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui perilaku pemustaka Perpustakaan Masjid Pusdai Jawa Barat yang mencakup lima rumusan masalah yaitu : (1) kebutuhan informasi pemustaka yang berkaitan dengan studi agama Islam, (2) perilaku pemustaka sebelum melakukan pencarian informasi, (3) perilaku pemustaka pada proses pencarian informasi, (4) perilaku pemustaka setelah melakukan pencarian informasi, dan (5) hambatan dalam pencarian informasi serta perilaku pemustaka untuk menghadapinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan “Information Seeking Theory”. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah metode kuantitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket, observasi, dan wawancara. Angket disebarkan pada 82 responden dan wawancara dilakukan terhadap 3 orang responden yang telah mengisi angket. Hasil penelitian secara umum menggambarkan bahwa pemustaka melakukan pencarian informasi dengan tiga tahapan : (1) menelaah terlebih dahulu konten informasi yang akan dicari, (2) mengunjungi perpustakaan dan browsing di internet, dan (3) mencatat dan menyimpan informasi kemudian dimanfaatkan untuk aktivitas/profesinya. Hasil penelitian secara khusus dengan penyebaran angket, menunjukkan mayoritas pemustaka membutuhkan informasi mengenai ilmu aqidah/tauhid Islam, sedangkan hasil wawancara menunjukkan kebutuhan informasi subjek terhadap ilmu fiqh/muamalah dan akhlak/perilaku seorang muslim. Hambatan yang ditemukan berdasarkan angket menunjukkan mayoritas pemustaka mengalami hambatan tidak ditemukannya informasi pokok yang dibutuhkan, namun menemukan informasi lain yang bermanfaat, sedangkan berdasarkan wawancara menunjukkan hambatan keterbatasan waktu dan finansial dari subjek sendiri, serta merasa kurang akuratnya informasi yang diperoleh dari suatu sumber. Mosques library included in the category of special libraries for its special collections, which is limited to the field of religion or Islamic religious studies completed with other collections and addressed to particular visitors even though they’re from various professions and activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the behavior of the visitors Pusdai Mosque Library in West Java that includes five formulations of the problem, namely: (1) the needs of the visitors information related to the study of Islam, (2) the behavior of the visitors before scanning information, (3) the behavior of the visitors on information search process, (4) the behavior of the visitors after the search of information, and (5) the obstacles in the search for information as well as the behavior of the visitors to deal with it. This study uses "Information Seeking Theory". The method used is descriptive quantitative method. The technique for collecting the data using questionnaires, observation, and interviews. The questionnaire distributed to 82 respondents and interviews were conducted with 3 people who have completed the questionnaire. The results generally describes that the visitors search the information in three stages: (1) examine first the content of information that would be searched, (2) visit the library and browsing via Internet connection, and (3) record and store the information to be used for their activity/profession. The results of the study specifically from the questionnaire, showed the majority of the visitors need of information related to Aqeedah/monotheism in Islam, while the interviews indicate the subject of the information needs are Fiqh/muamalah and character/behavior of a Muslim. According to the result of questionnaires, the obstacle that found is the majority of the visitors have problems in finding the necessary basic information, but find other useful information, while according to interviews, the obstacle is the limit of time and financial of the subject themselves, as well as the lack of accuracy of the information that obtained from a source.
