Abstract
Stres akademik merupakan salah satu isu pendidikan saat ini. Atas dasar ini penelitian dilakukan dengan tujuan problem focused coping yang dikambangkan sebagai strategi untuk mereduksi stres, efektif membantu siswa mengelola stres akademik. Subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas VIII di SMPN 2 Tanjungsiang tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan pendekatakan kuantitatif dengan metode ekperimen kuasi dan menggunakan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group. Instrumen penelitian dengan menggunakan angket tertutup skala model ya-tidak (gutman). Teknik analisis data menggunakan statistik parametrik untuk mengukur keefektifan strategi problem focused coping dengan bantuan SPss 18. Hasil Penelitian menghasilkan (1) sebagian besar siswa SMPN 2 Tanjungsiang mengalami stres akademik dengan kategori sedang; (2) penelitian menunjukan aspek stres akademik yang paling menurun setelah dilakukan problem focused coping pada aspek emosi yaitu indikator gelisah dan aspek fisik pada indikator tidak dapat beristirahat dengan maksimal; (3) strategi problem focused coping efektif dalam mereduksi stres akademik siswa. Adapaun rekomondasi ditujukan bagi pihak sekolah, bagi siswa dan bagi peneliti selanjutnya. Academic stress is one of the current educational issues. On the basis of research conducted with the aim of which was developed as a strategy to reduce stress. Effective, helping students reducing academic stress. Data were analyzed using parametric statistics to measure the effectiveness of problem focused coping strategies with SPSS 18. Results produce (1) most students SMPN2 Tanjungsiang academic stress with moderate category; (2) research shows that most aspects of academic stress decreased after the problem focused coping on the emotional aspects are indicators of anxiety and physical aspects of the indicator can not rest with the maximum; (3) The problem focused coping strategies are effective in reducing students' academic stress. Adapaun rekomondasi appointed for the school, for students and for further research.
