Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh hasil observasi yang menunjukkan kurang bervariasinya penggunaan metode pembelajaran sehingga motivasi belajar peserta didik rendah, terlihat dari sikap peserta didik dalam kegiatan belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) Menerapkan metode diskusi buzz group, (2) Meningkatkan motivasi belajar peserta didik dengan tiga indikator, dan (3) Mengidentifikasi respon peserta didik terhadap kegiatan belajar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (Classroom Action Research) dengan setting penelitian di kelas XI IPS 2 SMA Negeri Pasundan 7 Bandung yang berjumlah 24 peserta didik terdiri dari 15 laki-laki dan 9 perempuan pada mata pelajaran geografi. Aspek yang dikaji meliputi motivasi belajar dan penerapan metode diskusi buzz group. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus dan empat tindakan. Alat pengumpul data meliputi lembar observasi, tes, lembar kerja peserta didik (LKS), angket dan dokumentasi. Analisis data terdiri dari data kualitatif secara deskriptif dan data kuantitatif dengan persentase sebagai data pendukung. Indikator keberhasilan penelitian ini jika 75% peserta didik mencapai KKM pada setiap indikator motivasi belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Penerapan metode diskusi buzz group dilaksanakan melalui lima tahapan, (2) Penggunaan metode ini dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar dengan indikator durasi dan presistensi belajar, kualifikasi prestasi, dan sikap terhadap kegiatan belajar. Peningkatan tertinggi pada aspek durasi dan presistensi sedangkan terendah pada aspek sikap, dan (3) Peserta didik memberikan respon positif pada kegiatan belajar menggunakan metode diskusi buzz group dalam setiap siklus. This study was conducted based on the result of the observation showing that there are no variations in the use of learning method so that the students’ learning motivation was not high enough. It can be seen from the attitude of the students during the learning process. This study aims to: (1) Applying buzz group discussion method, (2) Raising the students’ learning motivation through several aspects, and (3) Identifying the students’ responses on the use of buzz group discussion method. This study employs Classroom Action Research method with the class of XI IPS 2 SMA Pasundan 7 Bandung as the setting of the study. This study uses 24 students which consists of 15 male and 9 female in the Geography subject. This study tries to analyze the students’ learning motivation and the use of buzz group discussion method. This study is conducted in the two cycles with the four different treatments. The data for this study are gathered through the observation sheets, the tests, students worksheets, the questionnaire, and the documentation. The analysis of the data consists of the qualitative data shown by the descriptive and the quantitative data shown by the percentage as a data supporting. The indicator of the success of this study is when 75% of the students have reached the KKM in each of the learning motivation indicators. The results of this study show that: (1) The use of buzz group discussion method is conducted through five steps, (2) The use of this method can raise students’ learning motivation in several aspects such as the duration and presistance of learning, the qualification of achievement, and the attitude during the learning process, with the highest enhancement is in the duration and presistance of learning aspect and the lowest enhancement is in the attitude during the learning process aspect, and (3) The students give a positive response on the learning activity by using buzz group learning method in every cycles.
