Abstract

Saat ini, asumsi guru bimbingan dan konseling sebagai”Polisi Sekolah” masih saja ditemukan di lapangan. Hal tersebut dikarenakan guru bimbingan dan konseling kurang dapat mencerminkan pribadi yang berkualitas dihadapan siswa. Padahal kualitas pribadi guru bimbingan dan konseling merupakan faktor yang penting dalam menunjukkan identitas professional. Bahkan kualitas pribadi guru bimbingan dan konseling sangat berpengaruh pada efektivitas layananan konseling daripada orientarasi teoritis dan teknik yang digunakan. Kualitas pribadi menjadi self-instrument dalam membantu konseli. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kualitas pribadi guru bimbingan dan konseling di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Negeri (SMKN) Kota Bandung pada tahun ajaran 2014/2015 berdasarkan model Cavanagh. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Alat pengungkap data menggunakan kuesioner berbentuk skala. Partisipan penelitian terdiri dari 48 guru bimbingan dan konseling di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Negeri (SMKN) Kota Bandung pada tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan secara umum pribadi guru bimbingan dan konseling di SMKN Kota Bandung berada pada kategori berkualitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan antara kualitas pribadi guru bimbingan dan konseling berdasarkan jenis kelamin, namun terdapat perbedaan kualitas pribadi guru bimbingan dan konseling berdasarkan latar belakang pendidikan dan pengalaman kerja. Dari hasil penelitian, dirumuskan rekomendasi bagi guru bimbingan dan konseling dan di lapangan, jurusan Psikologi Pendidikan dan Bimbingan dan Musyawarah Guru Bimbingan dan Konseling (MGBK) Kota Bandung serta bagi peneliti selanjutnya. Nowadays, assuming that guidance and counseling teachers as “a school police” is still found in the reality, it was happened since guidance and counseling teachers could not reflect themselves good personal qualities to their students. In fact, personal qualities are an important factor to show professional identity as a guidance and counseling teachers. Personal qualities are more important for effectiveness of counseling than theoretical orientation or techniques which are used by guidance and counseling teachers. Personal quality becomes a self-instrument in counseling relationship. The study is aimed at describing the personal qualities of guidance and counseling teachers of State-owned Vocational High School (SMK Negeri) in Bandung of academic Year 2014/2015 which is based on Cavanagh model. This research used quantitative approach with descriptive method. And as an instrument to get data, the writer used questioner in scale. Participant of the research consists of 48 guidance and counseling teachers. The results of this research showed that overall the personal of guidance and counseling teachers at state-owned vocational high school (SMK Negeri) in Bandung have been in “good quality” category. The results of this research show that there is no difference between the personal quality of guidance and counseling teachers based on the gender, but there are differences in the personal qualities of guidance and counseling teachers based on the educational background and work experience. Some recommendations are addressed to the guidance and counseling teachers, Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling, Guidance and Counseling Teacher Council (MGBK) In Bandung, for the next researcher in future as well.
