Abstract

Permasalahan karakter kemandirian siswa kelas rendah merupakan persoalan yang masih harus dipecahkan. Hal ini terlihat dari perilaku kemandirian siswa yang belum optimal pada aspek percaya diri, menentukan pilihan, inisiatif, menyesuaikan diri serta bertanggung jawab. Setiap aspek kemandirian siswa tersebut dapat mengalami perubahan melalui cara yang tepat. Salah satu cara untuk memperkuat upaya pengembangan karakter kemandirian siswa kelas rendah yaitu melalui PBL. Tujuan penelitian adalah apakah Project Based Learning (PBL) dapat memperkuat upaya pengembangan karakter kemandirian siswa. PBL merupakan model pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada pemecahan masalah yang dilakukan oleh siswa melalui kegiatan proyek. Seluruh kegiatan pembelajaran sepenuhnya berasal dari siswa dan guru bertindak sebagai fasilitator. Dengan melalui PBL diharapkan kemandirian siswa dapat mengalami perubahan. Untuk mengetahui tujuan tersebut penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan aplikasi pembelajaran dengan PBL dapat memperkuat upaya pengembangan karakter kemandirian siswa kelas rendah. Hal ini dapat dilihat dengan adanya perubahan kemandirian siswa dari siklus I, siklus II dan siklus III setelah dilaksanakannya pembelajaran melalui PBL. PBL merupakan pembelajaran yang menyenangkan siswa terlihat aktif, kreatif dan mandiri. Karena aplikasi ini melibatkan siswa secara menyeluruh dan mengutamakan kemandirian siswa yang berasal dari siswa itu sendiri (student center). Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa proses pembelajaran dengan PBL dapat mengembangkan karakter kemandirian siswa kelas rendah. Kata Kunci: Karakter Kemandirian Siswa, Project Based Learning Problems of low grade students were independent character is an issue that remains to be solved. Every aspect of the students independence may change through the proper way. One way to strengthen the independence of character development efforts of low-grade students is through PBL. The purpose of research is whether the Project Based Learning (PBL) can strengthen the independence of character development of students. PBL is an instructional model that is oriented toward problem solving is done by the students through project activities. All these activities are entirely derived from students learning and teachers act as facilitators. With the students independence through PBL is expected to change. To know the purpose of this research using action research methods. Results demonstrate the application of learning with PBL can strengthen efforts to develop low-grade students were independent character. This can be seen by a change in students independence from the first cycle, second cycle and third cycle after the implementation of learning through PBL. PBL is a fun learning students were active, creative and independent. Because of these applications involve the students as a whole and put student independence from the students themselves (student center). So it can be concluded that the process of learning with PBL can develop low-grade students were independent character. Keywords: Character Independence Students, Project Based Learning
