Abstract
Perjuangan dalam memperoleh kemerdekaan Indonesia melibatkan semua elemen bangsa. Salah satu kelompok masa yang bergabung dalam Nahdlatul Ulama pun tidak terkecuali dalam usaha memperoleh, mempertahankan, serta mengisi kemerdekaan. Sejak berdiri sampai sekarang, Nahdlatul Ulama selalu berpartisipasi aktif dalam kehidupan kenegaraan. Hal yang monumental dan menjadi sebuah semangat nasionalisme adalah dikeluarkannya Resolusi Jihad yang disampaikan oleh KH. Hasyim Asy’ari dalam peperangan di Surabaya. Selanjutnya NU pun selalu sami’na wa atho’na terhadap keputusan negara, termasuk ketika pemberlakukan asas tunggal Pancasila. Apabila dilihat dari prespektif citizenship education, Nahdlatul Ulama sebagai community civic education sebagaimana penjelasan dari Cogan mengenai citizenship education yaitu “...both these in-school experiences as well as out-of school or non-formal/informal learning which takes place in the family, the religious organization, community organizations, the media, etc which help to shape the totality of the citizen” (Cogan, 1998:4). Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengkaji dan menganalis peran NU dalam membina nasionalisme dengan fokus pada makna nasionalisme menurut kiai NU. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan studi kasus sebagai acuan penelitian. Pengumpulan data penelitian ini menggunakan wawancara terhadap para kiai NU, observasi terhadap kebiasaan-kebiasaan warga NU, dan studi dokumentasi mengenai ke-NU-an. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa : (1) Subjek pemikiran NU dalam mengembangkan nasionalisme di Indonesia adalah berasal dari pemikiran Hasyim Asy’ari melalui resolusi Jihad yang menyamakan pembelaan terhadap tanah air hukumnya fardu ain seperti kewajiban shalat; (2) Warga negara yang baik menurut Nahdaltul Ulama adalah warga yang nasionalisme religius yaitu mentaati hukum negara dan hukum agama; (3) Sikap dan langkah perjuangan NU dalam partisipasi mempertahankan nasionalisme Indonesia adalah fleksibel, tidak melawan pemerintah, dan mengedepankan local wisdom(kearifan lokal); (4) Prespektif Nahdlatul Ulama terhadap organisasi-organisasi Islam internasional yang ingin mendirikan Khilafah Islamiyah adalah sangat membahayakan keutuhan bangsa; (5) pesantren menjadi pusat pendidikan moral bangsa yang dimiliki NU; (6) Upaya NU dalam baldatun thoyibatun wa robbun ghofur diawali dari desa atau daerah di sekitar pesantren; (7) Pembinaan nasionalisme terhadap generasi muda yang masih belum maksimal menjadi kendala bagi NU dalam perjuangan nasionalisme saat ini. The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze the role of NU in fostering nationalism by focusing on the meaning of nationalism by NU kiai. The method used is a qualitative case study as a research reference. This research data collection using interviews with NU kiai, observation of the habits of NU, and study documentation on NU's all. These results indicate that: (1) Subject NU thinking in developing nationalism in Indonesia is derived from Hasyim thinking through a resolution equating Jihad homeland defense against legal liability fard ayn like prayer; (2) a good citizen is a resident scholar according Nahdaltul the religious nationalism that obey state law and religious law; (3) Attitudes and step NU struggles in maintaining the participation of Indonesian nationalism is flexible, not against the government, and promote local wisdom (wisdom); (4) Perspective NU against international Islamic organizations that want to establish the Caliphate is very dangerous to the integrity of the nation; (5) into a boarding school moral education center owned by NU; (6) Efforts NU in baldatun thoyibatun wa robbun ghofur beginning of the village or the area around the boarding school; (7) Development of nationalism to the young generation who still have not been up an obstacle for NU in the nationalist struggle today.
