Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi mengenai efektivitas pembelajaran berbasis ZPD dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa pada tiga level representasi kimia dalam materi hidrolisis garam. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah quasi experiment dengan pretest-posttest, nonequivalent control group design sebagai desain penelitian. Penelitian melibatkan 72 siswa kelas XI IPA di salah satu SMA Negeri di Kota Bandung yang terdiri dari masing-masing 36 siswa kelompok kontrol dan kelompok eksperimen. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan ialah tes yang mengukur pemahaman konsep siswa pada tiga level representasi dan pedoman wawancara sebagai instrumen pendukung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis ZPD (X ̅=0,43) memberikan efektivitas peningkatan pemahaman konsep level submikroskopik yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan pembelajaran tanpa berbasis ZPD (X ̅=0,15). Akan tetapi, pembelajaran tanpa berbasis ZPD (X ̅=0,87) memberikan efektivitas peningkatan pemahaman konsep level makroskopik yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan pembelajaran berbasis ZPD (X ̅=0,71). Sementara itu, pembelajaran berbasis ZPD (X ̅=0,79) maupun pembelajaran tanpa berbasis ZPD (X ̅=0,77) tidak menunjukkan perbedaan efektivitas peningkatan pemahaman konsep level simbolik yang signifikan. This study aims to get information about the effectiveness of ZPD based learning in developing students' conceptual understanding of the three level representation of chemistry in salt hydrolysis topic. The method used in this reasearch was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest, nonequivalent control group design as reasearch design. The study involved 72 students of XI science class in one of the government senior high school in Bandung, which consists of each 36 students in control group and experimental group. The research instruments used were a test that measures students' conceptual understanding of the three level representation and interview items as second instrument. The results showed that the ZPD based learning (X ̅= 0.43) provides higher development effectiveness of conceptual understanding in submicroscopic level than learning without ZPD based (X ̅= 0.15). However, learning without ZPD based (X ̅= 0.87) showed higher development effectiveness of conceptual understanding in macroscopic level than the ZPD based learning (X ̅= 0.71). Meanwhile, ZPD based learning (X ̅= 0.79) as well as learning without ZPD based (X ̅= 0.77) did not show a significant difference in the development effectiveness of conceptual understanding in symbolic level.
