Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana keterampilan literasi informasi pustakawan dalam menunjang kompetensi profesionalnya sebagai pustakawan, khususnya dalam melakukan kegiatan literasi informasi yang terintegrasi kedalam pelayanan perpustakaan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Perpustakaan UPI yang berlokasi di Jalan Setiabudhi 229, Bandung. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan model studi kasus. Penentuan sampel dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan teknik non-random sampling yakni purposive sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini disebut informan, berjumlah lima orang pustakawan ahli Perpustakaan UPI yang memenuhi kriteria yang telah ditentukan. Simpulan yang diperoleh adalah keterampilan literasi informasi sangat menunjang kompetensi profesional pustakawan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan literasi informasi yang dimiliki oleh pustakawan ahli Perpustakaan UPI berdasarkan Swiss Information Literacy Standard tergolong dalam kategori advanced. Selain itu, Pustakawan ahli Perpustakaan UPI sudah melakukan kegiatan literasi informasi yang terintegrasi ke dalam pelayanan perpustakaan seperti layanan rujukan cepat, layanan penelusuran informasi dan user education. Penguasaan keterampilan literasi informasi merupakan hal yang penting pada era globalisasi, karenanya pelatihan literasi informasi merupakan kegiatan yang harus diikuti oleh setiap pustakawan. Keterampilan literasi informasi juga merupakan bekal pembelajaran seumur hidup. Sehingga, keterampilan literasi informasi merupakan hal yang harus dimiliki oleh setiap masyarakat belajar, terlebih calon guru. Maka, disarankan kepada para pemangku kebijakan UPI untuk dapat mengintegrasikan literasi informasi kedalam kurikulum pembelajarannya. This study is a qualitative study that aims to determine how the information literacy skills of librarians in supporting their professional competence as a librarian, especially in information literacy activities which are integrated into the library service. This research was conducted in UPI Central Library located at Jl. Setiabudhi 229, Bandung. This study used a descriptive method with a model of case study. The samples in this study were done by using the non-random sampling, to wit purposive sampling. The sample in this study is called the informant, of five librarians UPI Central Library who meet predetermined criteria. The conclusions obtained are very supportive of the information literacy skills of the professional competence of librarians. The results showed that the information literacy skills are possessed by librarians of UPI Central Library. Information Literacy Standard by Switzerland belongs to the advanced category. In addition, librarian of UPI Central Library has been conducting information literacy integrated into the library service as a quick reference service, information retrieval services and user education. Mastery of information literacy skills haas been proven to be important in the era of globalization, hence the information literacy training is an activity that should be followed by every librarian. Information literacy skills are also a provision of lifelong learning. Information literacy skills are to be owned by each community to learn, especially those prospective to be teachers. Thus, it is suggested to UPI policy makers to integrate information literacy into the curriculum learning.
