Abstract
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh locus of control terhadap konformitas dalam pemilihan jurusan di perguruan tinggi pada remaja tengah. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XII salah satu SMA di Bandung yang ingin melanjutkan pendidikan ke perguruan tinggi. Teori yang mendasari penelitian ini adalah teori locus of control menurut Rotter (1966) yang membagi locus of control menjadi locus of control internal & eksternal dan teori jenis konformitas compliance dan acceptance menurut Myers (1999). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan teknnik analisis statistik untuk melihat pengaruh locus of control sebagai variabel bebas (X) terhadap konformitas sebagai variabel terikat (Y). Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode kuesioner menggunakan instrumen locus of control dari Rachmawati (2011) dan instrumen konformitas dalam pemilihan jurusan yang peneliti susun berdasarkan jenis konformitas menurut Myers (1999). Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah uji regresi linier sederhana untuk mengetahui kontribusi atau pengaruh dari locus of control terhadap konformitas dalam pemilihan jurusan. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian adalah terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara locus of control terhadap konformitas dalam pemilihan jurusan yaitu sebesar 0,024 dengan α = 0,035 (<0,05), locus of control remaja tengah kelas XII lebih banyak cenderung pada locus of control eksternal, konformitas dalam pemilihan jurusan remaja tengah kelas XII berada pada kategori sedang dan jenis konformitas dalam pemilihan jurusan yang dilakukan remaja tengah kelas XII lebih ke jenis konformitas acceptance di mana siswa mengikuti teman dalam memilih jurusan karena percaya dengan apa yang diinformasikan dan dilakukan oleh temannya. Saran dari penelitian ini adalah remaja diharapkan untuk mengenali minat dan bakatnya serta meningkatkan pengetahuan mengenai jurusan-jurusan yang ada, bagi guru agar memberikan informasi mengenai jurusan-jurusan yang ada beserta rinciannya bukan hanya pada siswa kelas XII saja, dan bagi peneliti selanjutnya diharapkan dapat mencari faktor lain yang diduga kuat berpengaruh terhadap konformitas dalam pemilihan jurusan. This study was conducted to determine the effect of locus of control on conformity in the selection of majors in college in middle adolescents. The subjects were students of class XII one senior public high school in Bandung who wanted to continue their education to college. The base theory for this research is the theory of locus of control by Rotter (1966) which divides the locus of control into internal locus of control & external and the theory of type conformity compliance and acceptance by Myers (1999). This study used quantitative research method with statistical analysis technique to see the effect of locus of control as the independent variable (X) towards conformity as the dependent variable (Y). Data was collected by questionnaire using instruments locus of control of Rachmawati (2011) and conformity instrument in the selection of majors which was set up by the researcher based on the type of conformity according to Myers (1999). The data analysis technique used in this study was a simple linear regression to determine the contribution or influence of locus of control on conformity in the selection of majors. The results of the study was a significant difference between the locus of control on conformity in the selection of majors in the amount of 0,024 with α = 0.035 (< 0.05), locus of control middle adolescences class XII more inclined to external locus of control, conformity in the selection of majors middle adolescences class XII was in middle category and type of conformity in the selection of majors conducted by middle adolescences class XII was over to the type of acceptance conformity where students followed their friends in choosing majors because they believed on what their friends informed and did. Advice from this research are teenagers expected to recognize the interest and their talents and improve knowledge regarding existing majors, for teachers to provide information about majors with the details are not only on students class XII, and for next researchers expected to seek another factor which allegedly strong influences conformity in the selection of majors.
