Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan program perkuliahan Zoologi Invertebrata berbasis inkuiri laboratorium yang dapat meningkatkan motivasi, sikap ilmiah, keterampilan berpikir kritis, dan penguasaan konsep mahasiswa calon guru biologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan mixed methods embedded experimental design research. Subjek penelitian 52 mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi semester 3 tahun ajaran 2013/2014 pada salah satu perguruan tinggi swasta di kota Bandung, Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Instrumen yang digunakan terdiri dari tes penguasaan konsep, tes keterampilan berpikir kritis (KBK), lembar observasi (sikap imiah dan KBK), skala motivasi (sikap terhadap kurikulum dan persepsi terhadap perkuliahan), dan skala sikap ilmiah. Hasil penelitian ini menjelaskan beberapa karakteristik PPZI-BIL: (a) perkuliahan ini dapat memunculkan dan mengembangkan kemampuan bertanya kritis mahasiswa (b) mahasiswa difokuskan untuk menerapkan cara kerja ilmuwan yang diharapkan dapat menemukan konsep secara mandiri (c) dosen dan asisten bertindak sebagai fasilitator dan motivator. Komponen PPZI-BIL terdiri dari pendahuluan, pengajuan pertanyaan kritis, pembuktian melalui praktikum, elaborasi hasil praktikum, dan pembahasan hasil elaborasi. Penerapan PPZI-BIL sangat berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan motivasi, sikap ilmiah, keterampilan berpikir kritis, dan penguasaan konsep mahasiswa. Hasil lainnya menjelaskan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang positif antara: sikap ilmiah dengan penguasaan konsep, sikap ilmiah dengan keterampilan berpikir kritis, dan keterampilan berpikir kritis dengan penguasaan konsep mahasiswa. This study aims to develop Invertebrate Zoology inquiry-based lecture program that can enhance biology students’ motivation, scientific attitude, critical thinking skills, and concept mastery. This study used mixed methods embedded experimental design research. The subject of this research was 52 Biology Education students at third semester, academic years 2013/2014 on a private University in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The instruments of this study consist of concepts mastery test, critical thinking skills test, observation sheets (scientific attitude and critical thinking skills), motivation scale (students’ attitudes to curriculum and perceptions to teaching and learning), and scientific attitudes scale. The result of this research explains several characteristics of PPZI-BIL: (a) this lesson can immerge and develop students’ critical questioning ability (b) the students are focused to implement scientists’ work whom is expected to examine the concept independently (c) lecturer and his/her assistants act as facilitator and motivator. PPZI-BIL components consist of introductory, propose critical questions, verification through practicum, elaboration of practical result, and discussion of the elaboration results. Implementation PPZI-BIL has strong influence to students’ motivation, students’ scientific attitude, critical thinking skill, and concept mastery. Other result shows that there is positive correlation between: scientific attitude with concept mastery, scientific attitude with critical thinking skill and critical thinking skill with concept mastery.
