Abstract
Rekomendasi ditujukan kepada guru bimbingan dan The present study is aimed to obtain an effective modeling technique to Increasing self-control of eighth grade students of SMP 2 Batusangkar. The present study applies quantitative research approach with pretest-posttest equivalent control group quasi-experimental design and simple random sampling technique. Participants were 30 students with lack of self-control, 15 students as experimental group and 15 students as control group by using simple random sampling technique. The data were collected using self-control inventontory which uses an ordinal scale, interview, and documentary study. The study was started with developing a hypothetical modeling technique for increasing studendt self-control and validated with pretest-posttest quasi-experimental sesign. Data analysis techniques used a nonparametric test statistical with the Wilcoxon sign test-Rank. The study comes up with the main faiding that the tasted modeling technique is proven to be effective for increasing students self-control with a significance 0,001 in the experimental class. Based on findings of this study, the modeling techniques can be used as a model of intervention in dealing with lack self-control of students. Recommendations addressed to guidance and counseling teachers, and future research.
