    Abstract

    Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) merupakan gangguan pencernaan kronis akibat refluks asam lambung yang banyak terjadi pada remaja dengan faktor gaya hidup tertentu di lingkungan pesantren. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara konsumsi makanan pedas, stres akademik, dan lingkungan pesantren dengan risiko kejadian GERD pada santri di Pondok Pesantren Darul Falah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan frekuensi konsumsi makanan pedas, tingkat stres akademik, karakteristik lingkungan pesantren, serta kejadian GERD pada santri, serta menganalisis hubungan ketiga faktor tersebut terhadap risiko GERD. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional pada 194 responden berusia 15–18 tahun, menggunakan kuesioner terstandar dan tervalidasi untuk menilai kebiasaan makan, tingkat stres, persepsi lingkungan, dan gejala GERD. Analisis korelasi menunjukkan korelasi positif yang signifikan antara konsumsi makanan pedas (r = 0,45; p < 0,001), stres akademik (r = 0,39; p < 0,001), serta persepsi yang kurang baik terhadap lingkungan pesantren (r = -0,32; p = 0,002) dengan risiko GERD. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa faktor diet, psikologis, dan lingkungan secara bersama-sama berkontribusi terhadap prevalensi GERD pada populasi ini. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa strategi pencegahan di pesantren perlu mengintegrasikan edukasi gizi, manajemen stres, dan perbaikan lingkungan untuk menurunkan kejadian GERD dan meningkatkan kesehatan santri. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is a chronic digestive disorder caused by acid reflux and is prevalent among adolescents with specific lifestyle factors in an Islamic boarding school setting. This study aims to analyze the relationship between spicy food consumption, academic stress, and the boarding school environment with the risk of GERD occurrence among students at Pondok Pesantren Darul Falah. Specifically, the study aims to describe the frequency of spicy food consumption, academic stress levels, characteristics of the boarding school environment, and the occurrence of GERD among students, as well as to analyze the relationship of these three factors with GERD risk. A cross-sectional quantitative design was employed with 194 respondents aged 15–18 years, using validated questionnaires to assess dietary habits, stress levels, environmental perceptions, and GERD symptoms. Correlation analysis showed significant positive correlations between spicy food consumption (r = 0.45; p < 0.001), academic stress (r = 0.39; p < 0.001), and unfavorable perceptions of the boarding school environment (r = -0.32; p = 0.002) with GERD risk. These results indicate that dietary, psychological, and environmental factors collectively contribute to the prevalence of GERD in this population. The study concludes that preventive strategies in boarding schools should integrate nutrition education, stress management, and environmental improvements to effectively reduce GERD incidence and promote student health.
