Abstract

Siswa underachiever adalah siswa yang memiliki IQ yang tinggi namun prestasi belajarnya rendah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan gambaran karakteristik kepribadian pada siswa underachiever. Penelitian ini menrupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa underachiever di kelas XI SMAN 18 Bandung. Pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan indicator-indikator tertentu sebagai pertimbangan dalam pengambilan sampel dan didapat 37 siswa yang terindikasi sebagai siswa underachiever. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes Edward Personal Preference Schedule (EPPS), instrument ini mengukur aspek-aspek kepribadian. Hasil penelitian diantaranya: (1)berdasarkan analisis terhadap hasil tes EPPS secara keseluruhan, analisis terhadap kelas IPA dan IPS, analisis berdasarkan tingkatan IQ dan analisis berdasarkan jenis kelamin, ditemukan bahwa aspek eksibisi, otonomi dan afiliasi siswa underachiever tergolong tinggi dan aspek agresi tergolong rendah (2) terdapat perbedaan antara aksibisi antara siswa underachiever kelas XI IPA dan IPS. Dari hasil penelitian, menghasilkan beberapa rekomendasi yang ditujukan kepada (1) guru bimbingan dan konseling, dan (2) peneliti selanjutnya. Underachiever students are students who have a high IQ but low academic achievement. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview on the personality characteristics of students underachiever. This study menrupakan quantitative research using descriptive method. The population in this study was an underachiever in class XI student of SMAN 18 Bandung. The samples in this study using purposive sampling technique with certain indicators as a consideration in the decision and obtained a sample of 37 students who indicated as an underachiever students. The instruments used are tests Edward Personal Preference Schedule (EPPS), these instruments measure aspects of personality. The results of the study are: (1) based on analysis of the EPPS test results overall, the analysis of science and social studies classes, based on the analysis of the level of IQ and gender based analysis, it was found that aspects of the exhibition, autonomy and affiliation of students underachiever aspects of aggression is high and relatively low (2) there is a difference between an underachiever aksibisi between students of class XI science and social studies. From the research, producing a number of recommendations aimed at (1) teacher guidance and counseling, and (2) further research.
