    Abstract

Non-hemorrhagic stroke is one of the leading causes of long-term disability and is often accompanied by motor impairment, particularly decreased hand muscle strength. This condition significantly limits patients’ ability to perform daily activities; therefore, effective rehabilitative interventions are required. One therapeutic approach that can be applied is mirror therapy, which utilizes visual feedback through a mirror to stimulate motor activity in the brain. This study aimed to evaluate the application of mirror therapy in improving hand muscle strength in patients with non-hemorrhagic stroke at the Anyelir Ward of RSUD Umar Wirahadikusumah. This study employed a case report design with an Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) approach involving one patient with non-hemorrhagic stroke who experienced upper extremity hemiparesis. Mirror therapy was administered for four consecutive days, with a duration of 15 minutes per session. Hand muscle strength was assessed using Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) before and after the intervention. The results showed an improvement in hand muscle strength, with the MMT score increasing from 2 to 3 after the implementation of mirror therapy. This improvement indicates that the patient was able to perform full movements against gravity. In conclusion, mirror therapy is effective in improving hand muscle strength in patients with non-hemorrhagic stroke and can be utilized as a nursing intervention within stroke rehabilitation programs.
