    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perjuangan Batalyon Daeng dalam upaya mempertahankan Indonesia pada masa Revolusi Indonesia tahun 1945–1949. Fokus kajian diarahkan pada latar belakang terbentuknya organisasi militer dari Kompi Daeng, Batalyon Daeng, Batalyon 25, hingga Batalyon Guntur serta kontribusinya dalam berbagai pertempuran di Jawa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode sejarah dengan tahapan heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Sumber yang digunakan terdiri atas arsip, dokumen, dan literatur sekunder. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Batalyon Daeng memiliki peran signifikan dalam mempertahankan wilayah strategis di Jawa Barat, seperti dalam pertempuran di Alun-alun Cimahi, pertahanan di Bunbulang Garut, hingga keterlibatan dalam Long March dan perang gerilya pasca Agresi Militer II. Selain menghadapi Belanda, Batalyon Daeng juga berhadapan dengan PKI yang menambah kompleksitas perjuangan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa perjuangan Batalyon Daeng bukan hanya mencerminkan upaya militer, tetapi juga menjadi simbol ketahanan rakyat Jawa Barat dalam menghadapi ancaman kedaulatan. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memperkaya kajian sejarah lokal sekaligus memberikan inspirasi bagi penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai dinamika militer di daerah lain. This study aims to analyze the struggle of Battalion Daeng in defending Indonesia during the Indonesian National Revolution, 1945–1949. The focus of the research is directed at the background of the establishment of the military organization from Kompi Daeng, Battalion Daeng, Battalion 25, to Battalion Guntur, as well as its contributions to various battles in Java. This research applies the historical method with stages of heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The sources used consist of archives, documents, and secondary literature. The findings show that Battalion Daeng played a significant role in defending strategic areas in West Java, such as the battle at Cimahi Town Square, the defense in Bunbulang Garut, and its involvement in the Long March and guerrilla warfare after the Second Military Aggression. In addition to confronting the Dutch, Battalion Daeng also faced the PKI movements, which added to the complexity of the struggle. The conclusion of this research is that the struggle of Battalion Daeng not only reflects military efforts but also symbolizes the resilience of the West Javanese people in defending sovereignty. This study is expected to enrich local historical studies and provide inspiration for further research on military dynamics in other regions.
