    Abstract

    Penelitian ini menganalisis transformasi gaya hidup Starboy sebagai bentuk konformitas dan homogenitas budaya pada Generasi Z di Kota Bandung. Fenomena Starboy yang dipopulerkan The Weeknd merepresentasikan kemewahan, individualisme, dan materialisme yang membentuk pola konsumsi serta relasi sosial di era digital. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi, melibatkan tujuh informan yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan dokumentasi, dengan analisis menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adopsi gaya hidup Starboy dipengaruhi oleh konstruksi identitas melalui konsumsi simbolik, dinamika peer group, dan negosiasi identitas yang mempertahankan autentisitas diri. Konformitas dimaknai sebagai strategi penerimaan sosial, pembentukan identitas kolektif, ekspresi kebebasan pilihan, dan modal sosial ekonomi. Homogenitas budaya dipahami sebagai fasilitator interaksi sosial, standardisasi estetika, dan paradoks keunikan kolektif. Penelitian mengungkap bahwa adopsi gaya hidup ini didorong oleh fear of missing out (FOMO), tekanan pertemanan, menjadi modal sosial untuk berkelompok dengan kalangan atas dan kebutuhan validasi sosial yang memperkuat konformitas sekaligus menciptakan homogenitas budaya. Fenomena ini memberikan dampak ambivalen: membuka peluang relasi sosial dan ekonomi melalui personal branding, namun menimbulkan tekanan psikologis dan pola konsumsi berlebihan. Penelitian menegaskan peran sentral budaya populer dan media sosial dalam membentuk gaya hidup Generasi Z sebagai bagian dari transformasi sosial budaya kontemporer. This study analyzes the transformation of the Starboy lifestyle as a form of conformity and cultural homogeneity among Generation Z in Bandung City. The Starboy phenomenon, popularized by The Weeknd, represents luxury, individualism, and materialism that shape patterns of consumption and social relations in the digital era. The research employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, involving seven informants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings reveal that the adoption of the Starboy lifestyle is influenced by identity construction through symbolic consumption, peer group dynamics, and identity negotiation aimed at maintaining self-authenticity. Conformity is understood as a strategy for social acceptance, the formation of collective identity, the expression of freedom of choice, and socio-economic capital. Cultural homogeneity is perceived as a facilitator of social interaction, aesthetic standardization, and the paradox of collective uniqueness. The study shows that the adoption of this lifestyle is driven by fear of missing out (FOMO), peer pressure, the pursuit of social capital to integrate with the upper class, and the need for social validation, which reinforce conformity while creating cultural homogeneity. This phenomenon has ambivalent impacts: it opens opportunities for social and economic relations through personal branding, yet also creates psychological pressure and patterns of excessive consumption. The study underscores the central role of popular culture and social media in shaping Generation Z’s lifestyle as part of contemporary socio-cultural transformation.
