Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi partisipasi politik komunitas punk di Kota Bandung dalam menyuarakan kritik terhadap kebijakan pemerintah melalui pendekatan fenomenologi hermeneutik. Fokus utama penelitian adalah memahami bentuk partisipasi politik non-konvensional, faktor pendorong, makna subjektif serta tantangan yang dihadapi komunitas punk dalam menyuarakan kritik terhadap kebijakan pemerintah. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif dan dokumentasi artefak kultural. Analisis data dilakukan secara tematik berdasarkan pendekatan Max van Manen untuk mengungkap makna pengalaman hidup anggota komunitas punk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunitas punk menggunakan seni jalanan, musik punk, zine dan aksi kolektif sebagai bentuk protes serta media kritik terhadap pemerintahan. Partisipasi ini tidak hanya merupakan bentuk ekspresi budaya, tetapi juga strategi politik untuk memperjuangkan ruang otonom dan keadilan sosial. Faktor pendorong utama meliputi kesadaran politik kritis dan pengalaman marginalisasi. Tantangan yang dihadapi meliputi represi dari aparat, stigma terhadap komunitas punk dan keterbatasan akses ruang publik formal. Kesimpulannya, partisipasi politik komunitas punk merepresentasikan praktik kewargaan kritis yang memainkan peran penting dalam memperluas ruang demokrasi. Sebagai bentuk partisipasi non-konvensional yang muncul dari akar rumput, ekspresi politik komunitas punk perlu mendapat pengakuan dalam diskursus kebijakan publik dan relevansi dalam pengembangan kurikulum Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan yang lebih inklusif dan transformatif. This study aims to explore the political participation of the punk community in Bandung City in voicing criticism of government policies through a hermeneutic phenomenological approach. The main focus is to understand the forms of non-conventional political participation, the driving factors, the subjective meanings, and the challenges faced by the punk community in articulating criticism of government policies. This research employs a qualitative method with data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation of cultural artifacts. Data were analyzed thematically using Max van Manen’s approach to uncover the meaning of the lived experiences of punk community members. The findings reveal that the punk community employs street art, punk music, zines, and collective actions as forms of protest as well as mediums of government criticism. Such participation is not merely a cultural expression but also a political strategy to struggle for autonomous spaces and social justice. The main driving factors include critical political consciousness and experiences of marginalization. The challenges faced involve repression by authorities, stigmatization of the punk community, and limited access to formal public spaces. In conclusion, the political participation of the punk community represents a practice of critical citizenship that plays an important role in expanding democratic spaces. As a form of non-conventional grassroots political participation, the political expressions of the punk community deserve recognition in public policy discourse and relevance in the development of a more inclusive and transformative Civic Education curriculum.
