Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai dinamika kehidupan sosial ekonomi etnis Tionghoa di Kecamatan Jatiwangi Kabupaten Majalengka pada tahun 1995-2014. Etnis Tionghoa merupakan salah satu etnis di Indonesia yang secara historis memiliki cerita hidup yang panjang dan berliku sejak kehadirannya di Indonesia. Adapun tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan pemahaman tentang dinamika kehidupan sosial-ekonomi etnis Tionghoa di Kecamatan Jatiwangi Kabupaten Majalengka pada tahun 1995 sampai 2014. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode historis yang terdiri dari beberapa tahapan, yaitu heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Hasil temuan dari penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa: pertama, kehidupan sosial ekonomi etnis Tionghoa di Jatiwangi sebelum tahun 1995 telah mengalami beragam dinamika, terutama pada masa Orde Baru ketika kebijakan pemerintah banyak membatasi kehidupan sosial tetapi secara perekonomian lebih unggul dibandingkan dengan masyarakat lainnya. Kedua, perubahan kehidupan etnis Tionghoa di sepanjang tahun 1995 sampai 2014 dipengaruhi oleh adanya peristiwa kerusuhan anti etnis Tionghoa di Jatiwangi pada tahun 1998 yang membuat kondisi sosial dan ekonomi terhambat. Ketiga, kebijakan pluralisme Gus Dur mempengaruhi kehidupan etnis Tionghoa di Jatiwangi, terutama pada masalah pembauran dan hubungan yang lebih terbuka dengan masyarakat lainnya. Keempat, interaksi sosial antara etnis Tionghoa dengan masyarakat lainnya pada kurun waktu 1995 sampai 2014 terjadi ke dalam bentuk kerja sama antara majikan dan pelayan serta kerjasama pada politik lokal. Selain itu, terdapat persaingan di bidang perekonomian dan konflik yang terjadi pada tahun 1998. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah dinamika kehidupan sosial ekonomi etnis Tionghoa di Kecamatan Jatiwangi Kabupaten Majalengka sangat dipengaruhi oleh kebijakan pemerintah dan hubungan sosial dengan masyarakat lainnya. This study discusses the dynamics of the socio-economic life of the Chinese ethnic group in Jatiwangi District, Majalengka Regency in 1995-2014. The Chinese ethnic group is one of the ethnic groups in Indonesia that historically has a long and winding life story since its arrival in Indonesia. The main objective of this study is to gain an understanding of the dynamics of the socio-economic life of the Chinese ethnic group in Jatiwangi District, Majalengka Regency in 1995 to 2014. The method used in this study is the historical method consisting of several stages, namely heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The findings of this study reveal that: first, the socio-economic life of the Chinese ethnic group in Jatiwangi before 1995 has experienced various dynamics, especially during the New Order era when government policies often restricted social life but were economically superior compared to other communities. Second, changes in the life of the Chinese ethnic group throughout 1995 to 2014 were influenced by events that proved anti-Chinese ethnicity in Jatiwangi in 1998 which hampered social and economic conditions. Third, Gus Dur's pluralism policy influenced the lives of ethnic Chinese in Jatiwangi, particularly in terms of integration and more open relations with other communities. Fourth, social interactions between ethnic Chinese and other communities between 1995 and 2014 took the form of cooperation between employers and employees, as well as cooperation in local politics. Furthermore, there was competition in the economic sector and a conflict that occurred in 1998. The conclusion of this study is that the dynamics of the socio-economic life of ethnic Chinese in Jatiwangi District, Majalengka Regency, are greatly influenced by government policies and social relations with other communities.
