    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V SDN A berdasarkan Taksonomi Barrett. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan instrumen berupa tes uraian yang disusun berdasarkan indikator dari setiap aspek dalam Taksonomi Barrett. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 15 siswa kelas V. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes membaca pemahaman terhadap teks narasi, wawancara terhadap guru kelas V dan studi dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa telah mampu memahami isi bacaan aspek literal, seperti mengidentifikasi ide utama dan menyebutkan fakta tersurat dalam teks. Pada aspek inferensial, siswa menunjukkan kemampuan yang baik dalam menyimpulkan informasi tersirat meskipun sebagian masih kesulitan memahami makna yang tidak dinyatakan secara eksplisit. Pada aspek reorganisasi, siswa cukup terampil dalam menyusun kembali informasi dan membuat rangkuman berdasarkan isi bacaan. Pada aspek apresiasi, siswa mampu mengekspresikan perasaan dan pendapat terhadap tokoh dan peristiwa dalam cerita, meskipun kedalaman simpati dan empati masih bervariasi. Namun, hasil berbeda terlihat pada aspek evaluasi. Sebagian siswa tampak belum mampu menilai isi bacaan secara kritis, bahkan cenderung menormalisasi perilaku negatif tokoh dalam cerita. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan model atau metode pembelajaran membaca yang melatih kemapuan membaca pemahaman siswa, seperti model guided reading dan metode SQ3R, agar siswa dapat memahami teks secara lebih komprehensif dan mendalam. This study aims to describe the reading comprehension ability of fifth-grade students at SDN A based on Barrett’s Taxonomy. The study employs a qualitative approach, using essay-based reading tests developed according to indicators from each aspect of Barrett’s Taxonomy. The subjects of this study were 15 fifth-grade students. Data collection techniques included reading comprehension tests on narrative texts, interviews with the fifth-grade teacher, and document analysis. The results show that students were able to comprehend the content of the text at the literal level, such as identifying the main idea and stating explicit facts from the text. In the inferential aspect, students demonstrated good ability in drawing implicit conclusions, although some still struggled with understanding unstated meanings. In the reorganization aspect, students were fairly skilled at rearranging information and summarizing the text. For the appreciation aspect, students were able to express their feelings and opinions toward the characters and events in the story, although the depth of sympathy and empathy varied. However, different results were found in the evaluation aspect. Some students were not yet able to critically evaluate the content of the text and even tended to normalize negative behavior shown by characters in the story. Therefore, appropriate instructional models or reading strategies, such as guided reading and the SQ3R method, are needed to help students comprehend texts more thoroughly and deeply.
