Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih tingginya miskonsepsi yang dialami siswa sekolah dasar pada pembelajaran IPA, khususnya pada materi gaya. Miskonsepsi merupakan pemahaman yang tidak sesuai dengan konsep ilmiah dan jika dibiarkan dapat menghambat pencapaian tujuan pembelajaran. Diperlukan model pembelajaran inovatif yang berpusat pada siswa untuk meremediasi miskonsepsi dan meningkatkan pemahaman konsep. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis efektivitas model Learning Cycle 5E terhadap miskonsepsi siswa kelas IV pada materi gaya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah True Experimental Design dengan tipe Posttest-Only Control Design. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV SDN 1 Giriawas dan SDN 2 Giriawas dengan jumlah total 66 siswa, yang dibagi menjadi kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, masing-masing berjumlah 33 siswa. Kelas eksperimen mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model Learning Cycle 5E, sedangkan kelas kontrol menggunakan metode konvensional. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes diagnostik pilihan ganda dengan alasan terbuka yang digunakan untuk mengukur pemahaman konsep sekaligus mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Kelas eksperimen memperoleh rata-rata skor posttest 77 dengan N-Gain 0,7025 (kategori tinggi), sedangkan kelas kontrol hanya mencapai rata-rata 47 dengan N-Gain 0,0569 (kategori sangat rendah). Uji-t menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,001 < 0,05 yang membuktikan adanya pengaruh signifikan model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 5E. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model Learning Cycle 5E efektif dalam meremediasi miskonsepsi dan meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi gaya dibandingkan dengan metode konvensional. This study was motivated by the high number of misconceptions experienced by elementary school students in learning science, particularly on the topic of force. Misconceptions are students’ understandings that deviate from scientific concepts, which, if not addressed, may hinder the achievement of learning objectives. Therefore, an innovative student-centered learning model is needed to remediate misconceptions and enhance conceptual understanding. The purpose of this research was to analyze the effectiveness of the Learning Cycle 5E model in addressing misconceptions among fourth-grade students on the concept of force. The research employed a True Experimental Design with a Posttest-Only Control Design. The participants were 66 fourth-grade students from SDN 1 Giriawas and SDN 2 Giriawas, divided into two groups: 33 students in the experimental class and 33 students in the control class. The experimental class was taught using the Learning Cycle 5E model, while the control class received conventional instruction. The research instrument was a multiple-choice diagnostic test with open reasoning, designed to measure conceptual understanding and identify misconceptions. The findings showed a significant difference between the two groups. The experimental class achieved an average posttest score of 77 with an N-Gain of 0.7025 (high category), while the control class only reached an average of 47 with an N-Gain of 0.0569 (very low category). The t-test revealed a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of the Learning Cycle 5E model. In conclusion, the Learning Cycle 5E model is effective in remediating misconceptions and significantly improving students’ conceptual understanding of force compared to conventional methods.
