Abstract
Various types of walking aids have been developed to assist the mobility of children with cerebral palsy, one of which is the rollator. Children with cerebral palsy experience limitations in motor control, thus requiring appropriate assistive devices to improve their walking ability. This study employed a mixed methods approach with a Sequential Exploratory design, starting with qualitative data collection and analysis, followed by quantitative data collection and analysis. Qualitative data were obtained through observations and interviews, while quantitative data were collected using a Single Subject Research (SSR) design with an A-B-A model. The subject was a first-grade student at a special needs elementary school with cerebral palsy. The results indicated that the rollator developed based on anthropometric and ergonomic principles had a positive impact on the subject’s walking ability. Improvements were observed in terms of stability, safety, comfort, and walking speed after using the rollator. These findings suggest that a rollator specifically designed to meet the needs of children with cerebral palsy can effectively enhance their mobility. The developed rollator has the potential to serve as an adaptive and functional mobility aid.
