Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kualitas lingkungan sekolah dengan kesadaran ekologis siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama dengan pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada dua sekolah dengan karakteristik berbeda, yaitu SMP Alam Bandung yang menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis lingkungan, dan SMP Negeri 7 Bandung sebagai sekolah konvensional yang telah meraih penghargaan Adiwiyata. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner sebagai instrumen utama dan observasi sebagai data tambahan. Data dari kedua sekolah dianalisis secara gabungan untuk memperoleh gambaran umum hubungan antar variabel, diawali dengan uji normalitas sebagai dasar pemilihan uji statistik lanjutan. Uji korelasi Spearman dan uji beda Mann-Whitney dilakukan pada masing-masing sekolah karena data tidak memenuhi asumsi normalitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif antara kualitas lingkungan sekolah dengan kesadaran ekologis siswa di kedua sekolah meskipun hubungannya tergolong lemah. Selain itu, tidak ditemukan perbedaan persepsi yang signifikan antar siswa dari dua sekolah tersebut terhadap kedua variabel yang diteliti. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa kualitas lingkungan fisik dan non-fisik sekolah memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk kesadaran ekologis siswa. This study aims to determine the relationship between school environmental quality and ecological awareness among junior high school students using a quantitative correlational approach. The research was conducted in two schools with distinct characteristics: SMP Sekolah Alam Bandung, which implements an environment-based learning model, and SMP Negeri 7 Bandung, a conventional school that has received the Adiwiyata environmental award. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires as the primary instrument and observation as supplementary data. Data from both schools were analyzed collectively to obtain a general overview of the relationship between the variables, starting with a normality test to determine the appropriate statistical analysis. Spearman correlation and Mann-Whitney U tests were conducted separately for each school due to the data not meeting normality assumptions. The results show a positive relationship between school environmental quality and students’ ecological awareness in both schools, although the strength of the correlation is relatively weak. In addition, no significant differences were found in students’ perceptions of the two variables between the two schools. These findings indicate that both the physical and non-physical quality of the school environment play an important role in shaping students’ ecological awareness.
