    Abstract

    Stasiun Bandung merupakan simpul transportasi utama dengan pergerakan pejalan kaki yang tinggi, namun fasilitas pedestrian di sekitarnya masih menghadapi masalah serius, seperti lebar trotoar di bawah standar, permukaan yang rusak, pencahayaan terbatas, serta gangguan dari aktivitas informal dan parkir liar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis tingkat walkability di kawasan sekitar Stasiun Bandung dengan pendekatan sequential explanatory. Tahap awal dilakukan observasi sistematis terhadap kondisi fisik berdasarkan indikator teknis, kemudian dilanjutkan survei persepsi pengguna kereta api lokal untuk memperdalam pemahaman atas pengalaman berjalan kaki. Analisis mencakup pembobotan indikator, perhitungan skor walkability, dan triangulasi data kuantitatif serta kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat walkability di kawasan studi berada pada kategori rendah hingga sedang. Kekurangan utama meliputi lebar trotoar kurang dari standar (<1,8 m), kualitas permukaan yang buruk, aksesibilitas difabel yang terbatas, minimnya fasilitas penyeberangan, serta pencahayaan malam yang tidak memadai. Persepsi pengguna menguatkan temuan tersebut, khususnya terkait hambatan kenyamanan, keamanan, dan fasilitas pendukung, meskipun aspek keamanan relatif lebih baik pada siang hari. Integrasi kedua data menegaskan bahwa persoalan walkability tidak hanya terkait infrastruktur fisik, tetapi juga tata kelola ruang publik, seperti penataan PKL, pengendalian parkir liar, dan konsistensi pengawasan. Temuan ini memiliki implikasi penting bagi perencanaan kota. Pertama, hasil penelitian memperkuat urgensi penerapan prinsip walkability dalam desain dan regulasi kawasan transit, agar tercipta lingkungan yang aman, nyaman, dan inklusif bagi pejalan kaki. Kedua, penelitian ini menegaskan perlunya integrasi antara standar teknis infrastruktur dengan persepsi pengguna untuk menghasilkan kebijakan yang lebih humanis. Dengan demikian, peningkatan kualitas pejalan kaki di kawasan Stasiun Bandung tidak cukup hanya berfokus pada pembangunan fisik, tetapi juga harus didukung oleh pengelolaan ruang publik yang berkelanjutan dan partisipatif. Bandung Station serves as a major transportation hub characterized by high pedestrian movement; however, the surrounding pedestrian facilities continue to face significant challenges, including substandard sidewalk widths, damaged surfaces, limited lighting, and obstructions from informal activities and illegal parking. The objective of this study is to analyze the level of walkability in the area surrounding Bandung Station using a sequential explanatory approach. The initial phase involved systematic observation of physical conditions based on technical indicators, followed by a survey of local train users’ perceptions to deepen the understanding of walking experiences. The analysis encompassed indicator weighting, walkability scoring, and triangulation of quantitative and qualitative data. The findings indicate that the overall walkability level within the study area falls within the low-to-moderate category. The main deficiencies include sidewalks narrower than the standard (<1.8 m), poor surface quality, limited accessibility for persons with disabilities, inadequate crossing facilities, and insufficient nighttime lighting. User perceptions reinforced these findings, particularly regarding comfort, safety, and supporting amenities, although perceived safety was relatively higher during daytime hours. The integration of both datasets reveals that walkability issues are not solely related to physical infrastructure, but also to the governance of public space—such as the regulation of street vendors, control of illegal parking, and consistency of enforcement. These findings carry important implications for urban planning. First, the results emphasize the urgency of applying walkability principles in the design and regulation of transit-oriented areas to create safe, comfortable, and inclusive environments for pedestrians. Second, this research highlights the necessity of integrating technical infrastructure standards with user perceptions to produce more human-centered policies. Therefore, improving pedestrian quality around Bandung Station should not only focus on physical development, but also be supported by sustainable and participatory public space management.
