    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar matematika berbasis productive struggle melalui pendekatan Problem Based Learning (PBL) pada materi bangun datar di kelas IV Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode Educational Design Research (EDR) berbentuk studi kasus. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV yang telah mempelajari materi bangun datar. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam dengan guru, dokumentasi, dan uji coba bahan ajar yang dikembangkan, kemudian dianalisis secara sistematis untuk menilai keefektifan dan keterlaksanaan bahan ajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar yang dikembangkan mampu meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam memahami konsep bangun datar, menyelesaikan masalah, dan berpikir kritis melalui tantangan terarah (productive struggle). Siswa menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan dalam menerapkan konsep bangun datar untuk menyelesaikan masalah, mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis bangun datar, serta menghitung luas dan keliling. Faktor-faktor yang mendukung keberhasilan penggunaan bahan ajar ini antara lain keterlibatan guru dalam membimbing proses productive struggle serta kesesuaian bahan ajar dengan karakteristik dan kebutuhan siswa. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penggunaan bahan ajar berbasis productive struggle melalui pendekatan PBL sebagai alternatif pembelajaran matematika yang lebih kontekstual, interaktif, dan efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah serta pemahaman konsep matematika siswa di Sekolah Dasar. This study aims to develop mathematics learning materials based on productive struggle through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach for plane shapes in fourth-grade elementary school. The study uses a qualitative approach with the Educational Design Research (EDR) method in the form of a case study. The research subjects were fourth-grade students who had studied plane shapes. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with teachers, documentation, and trials of the developed learning materials, and then systematically analyzed to assess the effectiveness and feasibility of the materials.The results indicate that the developed learning materials were able to improve students’ abilities in understanding the concepts of plane shapes, solving problems, and thinking critically through guided challenges (productive struggle). Students showed improvements in applying plane shape concepts to solve problems, identifying types of plane shapes, and calculating area and perimeter. Factors supporting the successful use of the learning materials included teacher involvement in guiding the productive struggle process and the alignment of the materials with students’ characteristics and needs. This study recommends the use of learning materials based on productive struggle through the PBL approach as an alternative mathematics learning strategy that is more contextual, interactive, and effective in enhancing problem-solving skills and students’ understanding of mathematical concepts in elementary school.
