Abstract
The implementation of the Braga Car-Free Program (Braga Beken) is an initiative by the Bandung City Government to create a safe and comfortable public space for pedestrians in the Braga area. This program responds to the growing need for pedestrian friendly tourism that emphasizes visitor safety. This study aims to measure how tourists local, domestic, and international perceive the image of a safe destination through the presence of the Braga Beken program. Data were collected using questionnaires distributed to 90 purposively selected respondents and analyzed using quantitative methods, including ANOVA and Tukey HSD post-hoc tests. The results indicate that, in general, the Braga Beken program is positively perceived by tourists in terms of providing a sense of safety, especially in the dimensions of traffic safety and environmental comfort. However, significant differences were found between local and international tourists in their perceptions of the presence of security personnel. These findings suggest the need for improved security monitoring and increased visibility of officers in the area, particularly to address the concerns of international visitors. In addition, enhancing supporting facilities is essential to strengthen Braga’s image as a safe and welcoming urban tourism destination for all.
