    Abstract

    Monasit merupakan salah satu mineral utama penghasil logam tanah jarang (LTJ) yang berpotensi tinggi sebagai bahan baku industry teknologi. Namun, proses ekstraksi LTJ dari monasit umumnya melibatkan reagen korosif dan menghasilkan limbah berbahaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji penggunaan Eutectic Ionic Liquids (EILs) berbasis betain (HBA) dan asam cis-oleat (HBD) sebagai pelindi alternatif yang lebih ramah lingkungan pada pelindian monasit asal Kalimantan Barat. Tahapan penelitian meliputi preparasi sampel, roasting dengan NaOH pada suhu 500°C selama 2 jam, sintesis EILs pada suhu 80°C dengan rasio molar 1:4, pelindian dengan variasi suhu (50-110°C), waktu (24-48jam), dan rasio padat/cair (1:5-1:25). Karakterisasi dilakukan menggunakan X-ray Fluoresence (XRF), X-Ray Difraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), dan Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa roasting mengubah fase fosfat menjadi oksida sehingga meningkatkan kelarutan LTJ dengan efektivitas tinggi terhadap unsur La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Tb, Dy, Y, Th, dan U dengan % ekstraksi masing-masing adalah 27,6; 22,3; 21,5; 37,2; 100; 56; 53,6; 44,5; 44,7%. Efisiensi ekstraksi optimum diperoleh pada suhu 95°C, waktu 42 jam, dan rasio padat/cair 1/10. Hasil analisis XRD menunjukan roasting sampel berhasil membentuk fasa oksida tanah jarang, meskipun setelah pelindian sebagian besar puncak oksida tanah LTJ tidak berkurang secara signifikan. SEM-EDX menampilkan morfologi monoklinik. Monazite is one of the main minerals producing rare earth metals (REEs) with high potential as raw materials for the technology industry. However, the process of extracting REEs from monazite generally involves corrosive reagents and produces hazardous waste. This study aims to examine the use of Eutectic Ionic Liquids (EILs) based on betaine (HBA) and cis-oleic acid (HBD) as alternative, more environmentally friendly leachants in leaching monazite from West Kalimantan. The research stages include sample preparation, roasting with NaOH at 500°C for 2 hours, synthesis of EILs at 80°C with a molar ratio of 1:4, leaching with variations in temperature (50-110°C), time (24-48 hours), and solid/liquid ratio (1:5-1:25). Characterization was carried out using X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX). The results showed that roasting changed the phosphate phase into oxide, thereby increasing the solubility of REEs with high selectivity towards La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Tb, Dy, Y, Th, and U elements with % extraction of 27.6; 22.3; 21.5; 37.2; 100; 56; 53.6; 44.5; 44.7%, respectively. The optimum extraction efficiency was obtained at a temperature of 95°C, a time of 42 hours, and a solid/liquid ratio of 1/10. The results of XRD analysis showed that roasting the sample successfully formed a rare earth oxide phase, although after leaching most of the REEs oxide peaks did not decrease significantly. SEM-EDX shows monoclinic morphology.
