    Abstract

This study aims to examine early childhood education (ECE) teachers’ perceptions of Project Based Learning (PjBL) in fostering the creativity of children aged 5–6 years in Tawang District. The research background stems from the importance of learning approaches that nurture creativity from an early age, where teachers act as facilitators in designing activities that encourage exploration, creation, and independent problem-solving. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method using a questionnaire that had undergone validity and reliability testing, distributed to 69 teachers from 18 kindergartens in Tawang District. The results indicate that all teachers had implemented PjBL and considered it effective in enhancing children’s creativity. Teachers’ understanding of PjBL was notably high, with the majority categorized as “Highly Understand.” Almost all indicators related to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of PjBL achieved support percentages above 97%. Regarding children’s creativity, teachers reported that PjBL encouraged the use of various media, adding details to projects, and expressing personal uniqueness in their work. However, certain aspects, such as producing original work without relying heavily on teacher examples (78.3%) and completing tasks on time (79.7%), still require improvement. In conclusion, the study confirms that PjBL is positively perceived by ECE teachers in Tawang District and is deemed relevant for developing creativity in children aged 5–6 years. The findings imply that PjBL implementation can be strengthened through enhanced teacher skills in project management, diversified learning strategies, and adequate institutional and governmental support.
