Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul PROFIL MODEL MENTAL SISWA PADA MATERI KESETIMBANGAN KIMIA DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN TDM-TWO-TIER. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendapatkan profil model mental 74 siswa kelas XII di salah satu SMAN di Bandung dengan metode deskriptif. Instrumen tes berjumlah delapan soal, setiap butir soal menguji penguasaan konsep siswa dengan menggunakan tiga level representasi kimia, yaitu makroskopik, submikroskopik dan simbolik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan model mental siswa tipe 00 (jawaban dan alasan salah) mendominasi dihampir seluruh pokok uji. Tingginya persentase model mental tipe 00 mengindikasikan bahwa penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi kesetimbangan kimia masih rendah. Title of this research is “STUDENT’ MENTAL MODEL PROFILE OF CHEMICAL EQUILIBIRIUM USING TWO-TIER DIAGNOSTIC TEST INSTRUMENT”. The purpose of this research is to gain mental model of 74 students at Grade XII from one senior high school in Bandung using descriptive method. The two-tier diagnostic test instrument consist eight questions. Each question examine student’s comprehension using three level representation (macroscopic, submicroscopic and symbolic). Result of this research show that student’s mental model type 00 (answer and reason are false) almost dominate in all questions. The biggest percentage of mental model type 00 indicate that student’s comprehension are low.
