Abstract
Pendidikan menjadi salah satu kebutuhan pokok bagi masyarakat saat ini. Pentingnya pendidikan menyebabkan masyarakat semakinselektifdalam memilih sekolah yang sesuai, termasuk pada jenjang sekolah menengah atas negeri di kota Bandung. Kota Bandung memiliki 27 sekolah menengah atas negeri yang tersebar pada 30 kecamatan. Preferensi masyarakat dalam memilih sekolah dipengaruhi oleh tiga faktor penting, yaitu kondisi sekolah, lokasi sekolah dan kondisi sosial ekonomi orang tua. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar hubungan antara ketiga faktor tersebut dengan preferensi masyarakat terhadap sekolah menengah atas negeri di kota Bandung. Metode yang dipakai pada penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas XI yang tersebar pada 27 sekolah menengah atas negeri (SMAN) di kota Bandung. Sampel pada penelitian ini terbagi tiga jenis yaitu sekolah, peserta didik dan orang tua. Untuk sampel sekolah dipilih sepuluh sekolah dari 27 sekolah menengah atas negeri yang ada, sampel peserta didik diambil sebanyak 90 peserta didik, dan orang tua juga sebanyak 90 orang. Instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner, wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan analisis korelasi koefisien spearman rank dengan bantuan SPSS versi 19.Hasil analisis data menunjukan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kondisi sekolah yang meliput aspek sarana dan prasarana serta sumber daya manusia (SDM).Sedangkan faktor kondisi sekolah padaaspek prestasi sekolah tidak terdapat hubungan. Faktor lokasi yang meliputi aspek waktu dan jarak tempuh serta aksesibilitas juga memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan preferensi masyarakat terhadap sekolah. Faktor kondisi sosial ekonomi orang tua yang meliputi tingkat pendidikan dan pendapatan orang tua tidak terdapat hubungan dengan preferensi masyarakat terhadap sekolah. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa faktor-faktor yang memiliki hubungan dengan preferensi masyarakat terhadap sekolah menengah atas negeri (SMAN) adalah faktor kondisi sekolah yang meliputi sarana prasarana dan sumber daya manusia (SDM) serta faktor lokasi yang meliputi aksesibilitas dan waktu serta jarak tempuh. Tetapi untuk aspek prestasi serta faktor sosial ekonomi yang meliputi tingkat pendidikan dan pendapatan orang tua tidak terdapat korelasi. Direkomendasikan untuk seluruh sekolah menengah atas negeri (SMAN) di kota Bandung agar lebih meningkatkansistem pengajaran yang dimiliki sehingga aspek prestasi dapat menjadi salah satu faktor bagi masyarakat dalam memilih sekolah. Education became one of the basic needs for society. The importance ofeducation led public to more selective in choosing the appropriate school, including the high school level in the Bandung City. Bandung has 27 state high schools in 30 districts. Public preferences when choosing a school is influenced by three important factors are condition of the school, school’s location and parent’s socio-economic conditions. The purpose of this research is to know how much the relationship between these three factors with public preference to public high school in the city state. This research used descriptive method.The population ofthis research were allstudentsof class XIweredisperedin27statehigh schools(SMAN) in Bandung. The sampleinthis research divided intothreetypesschools, pupilsand parents. Tenschoolsselectedfor thesampleof27secondaryschoolsoverthe existingstate, sampleswere takenas much as90learnerspupils, and parentsare alsoas many as90people. Research’s instrumentssuch asquestionnaires, interviews, observationanddocumentation.Data were analyzed usingSpearmanrankcoefficientcorrelationanalysiswith19thversion of SPSS.Analysis resultsshow thatthere is asignificant relationshipbetweenschool conditionswhichcoveraspects ofinfrastructure andhuman resources(HR).While thecondition ofschoolfactorsonschoolachievementaspectthere is no relationship.Locationfactorsinclude aspects oftimeand distance,as well asaccessibility alsohas asignificant correlationwith thepreferencesof theschoolcommunity. Factor ofsocio-economic conditionswhich includethe level ofparentaleducationandparental incomethere was no correlationwith thepreferencesof theschoolcommunity.The Recommendedfor theentirestatehigh school(SMAN) in the cityin order tofurther improve theteaching systemowned bythataspectof achievementmaybe onefactorin choosinga schoolfor the society.
