    Abstract

    Peserta didik tunarungu sering menghadapi kesulitan dalam memahami konsep operasi hitung aritmetika dasar karena keterbatasan akses terhadap komunikasi verbal. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan media pembelajaran yang konkret dan visual sesuai dengan karakteristik belajar mereka. Media Education Board hadir sebagai alternatif yang mampu menjembatani konsep abstrak menjadi lebih mudah dipahami melalui pengalaman belajar multisensori. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan media Education Board terhadap peningkatan kemampuan operasi hitung aritmetika dasar pada peserta didik tunarungu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pra-eksperimen dengan desain one group pretestposttest. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh peserta didik tunarungu jenjang SDLB, dengan sampel sebanyak lima orang siswa berusia 7–12 tahun yang dipilih menggunakan teknik random sampling. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes pilihan ganda sebanyak 30 butir soal yang mencakup materi penjumlahan, pengurangan, perkalian, dan pembagian. Data hasil pretest dan posttest dianalisis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh peserta didik mengalami peningkatan skor posttest dibandingkan pretest. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai Z sebesar -2.060 dan Asymp. Sig. (2- tailed) sebesar 0.039 (< 0.05), yang berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan setelah diberikan perlakuan. Dengan demikian, penggunaan media Education Board terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan operasi hitung aritmetika dasar peserta didik tunarungu. Media ini memberikan pengalaman belajar konkret dan visual yang sesuai dengan karakteristik belajar siswa, sehingga mampu menjembatani konsep abstrak dalam operasi hitung menjadi lebih mudah dipahami melalui manipulasi simbol angka yang nyata. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi implikasi praktis bagi guru dalam memilih media pembelajaran yang tepat, serta menjadi rujukan bagi peneliti selanjutnya untuk mengembangkan media Education Board pada materi atau jenjang pendidikan yang berbeda. Deaf students often face difficulties in understanding the concepts of basic arithmetic operations due to limited access to verbal communication. Therefore, concrete and visual learning media are needed to match their learning characteristics. The Education Board media serves as an alternative that can bridge abstract concepts, making them easier to understand through multisensory learning experiences. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using the Education Board media in improving the basic arithmetic operation skills of deaf students. The research method used was a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretestposttest design. The population consisted of all deaf students at the elementary special school (SDLB) level, with a sample of five students aged 7–12 years selected using random sampling techniques. The research instrument was a multiple-choice test with 30 items covering addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The pretest and posttest data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The results showed that all students experienced an increase in their posttest scores compared to their pretest scores. This was proven by a Z value of -2.060 and an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.039 (< 0.05), indicating a significant difference after the treatment was given. Therefore, the use of the Education Board media was proven to be effective in improving the basic arithmetic operation skills of deaf students. This media provides concrete and visual learning experiences that align with their learning characteristics, making it easier to bridge abstract concepts in arithmetic operations through the manipulation of real number symbols. The results of this study are expected to serve as a practical implication for teachers in selecting appropriate learning media, as well as a reference for future researchers to develop the Education Board media for different subjects or educational levels.
