Abstract
Pengembangan media pembelajaran “ES-STEM” dilatarbelakangi oleh kontribusi Indonesia dalam melakukan mitigasi perubahan iklim pada Perjanjian Paris namun, Indonesia justru termasuk sepuluh besar negara penyumbang gas karbon dioksida sebagai penyebab utama perubahan iklim. Oleh karena itu perlu memberikan pemahaman pada siswa untuk melakukan mitigasi perubahan iklim dengan mengurangi gas karbon dioksida sehingga, dikembangkan penelitian ini yang bertujuan memfasilitasi kemampuan melakukan mitigasi perubahan iklim pada anak usia sekolah dasar di kelas tinggi. Hal ini dilakukan melalui integrasi Visi II Literasi Sains yaitu isu sosiosaintifik berupa dampak aspek lingkungan dan sosial dari perubahan iklim dengan pendekatan STEM. Salah satunya melalui proyek fotobioreaktor sebagai salah satu solusi mengurangi gas karbon dioksida pada ruang terbuka hijau yang terbatas. Pengembangan media pembelajaran dibuat dengan metode penelitian Design Based Research (DBR) model Reeves yang terdiri dari tahap identifikasi dan analisis masalah, mengembangkan prototipe, proses uji coba, dan refleksi untuk menghasilkan prinsip desain. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, angket, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ditemukan bahwa siswa dapat menjelaskan keterhubungan dampak perubahan iklim dengan pemanasan global sebagai penyebab utamanya, lalu memahami fungsi penanaman tanaman untuk mengurangi gas karbon dioksida, serta dapat memahami fungsi fotobioreaktor sebagai salah satu solusi cara mengurangi gas karbon dioksida pada ruang terbuka hijau yang terbatas. Sehingga disimpulkan, media dapat digunakan untuk memfasilitasi kemampuan mitigasi perubahan iklim pada anak sekolah dasar kelas tinggi. The development of the “ES-STEM” learning media is based on Indonesia’s contribution to climate change mitigation in the Paris Agreement. However, Indonesia remains among the top ten countries contributing carbon dioxide emissions, which are the main cause of climate change. Therefore, it is necessary to provide students with an understanding of climate change mitigation by reducing carbon dioxide emissions. This research was conducted to facilitate climate change mitigation skills among upper elementary school students. The effort was carried out through the integration of Vision II of Scientific Literacy, namely socioscientific issues concerning the environmental and social impacts of climate change, with a STEM approach. One of the projects implemented was the photobioreactor as a solution to reduce carbon dioxide in limited green open spaces. The development of the learning media employed the Design-Based Research (DBR) method using the Reeves model, which consists of problem identification and analysis, prototype development, trial implementation, and reflection to generate design principles. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and document analysis. The results showed that students were able to explain the link between climate change impacts and global warming as its main cause, understand the role of plant cultivation in reducing carbon dioxide, and recognize the function of photobioreactors as a solution to reduce carbon dioxide in limited green open spaces. Thus, it can be concluded that the media can be used to facilitate climate change mitigation skills among upper elementary school students.
